Default should I remove the resonators

I just had this dumb idea pop into my head. I wanted to make my exhaust a little louder and I'm contemplating whether or not I should have the resonators removed. I live in ohio and emission and inspection are not to worry about because we do not have that in my county. Here is a clip of my exhaust. How much louder will the exhaust be once the resonators are removed?

It may be a little louder but I can tell you that you run a real risk of in cab drone. You can read my thread on what I did with mine Aero Turbine Exhaust.

The short end of it is this. I installed an Aero turbine muffler. In the process we cut out the stock resonator and ran a straight pipe back to the Aero turbine. The in cab drone at 70 mph and at certain rpm bands was absolutely intolerable. My wife went absolutely insane over this. I ended up having a glass pack installed in the original resonator's location and it took care of the problem. I still get a nice growl/rumble but no more in cab drone and no more wishing I could beat myself to death with a hammer on long trips with the wife.

I think you would be best served if you could find a truck whose exhaust you like and then find out what kind of muffler they are running. Leave the stock resonator in place and just get a good muffler to replace the one you currently have.

On a personal note, I have always been curious what it would sound like if someone cut out the stock resonator and the stock muffler and replaced each one with a glass pack. It would be one glass pack feeding into a couple of feet of pipe and then into the other one - not dual pipes with a glass pack on each.

19+ MPG on the Highway at 75 MPH in a DC with a four speed automatic and a bad O2 sensor - not too shabby!

Don't do it Chris. Get a new flow-through design muffler if you're seeking louder exhaust.
