Default Aero Exhaust

I've been seriously considering going with the "Aero Exhaust" but i'm still not sure. If anybody has it, or knows anything about it i'd really like some feed back on it thanks.

The idea behind it is that it creates a vacuum affect which tells the computer it needs more air and there for creating more HP. I guess what i'm looking for is performance over anything else. You know anything on it?

The aeroturbine muffler is not really that effective of a muffler. I've heard one on a Tundra and thought it sounded like a rusted apart exhaust system.

Sounds like marketing horse $#!+ to me. How is a muffler supposed to create a vacuum? Exhaust gasses (pressure) is being forced through the muffler. What force of suction would be created by the muffler that could be pulling the exhaust gasses out that are greater than the engine's pushing the exhaust gasses out? In other words, suction created is greater than the pressure pushing out? It is about as silly as the hoods that are supposed to create a ram-air effect --> Those are all about looks, not extra HP.

With regards to exhaust systems, I would look towards some of the more reputable systems out there.

The aero's actually work quite well on diesels. Lots of documentation on some of the diesel forums.

I had one on my 07 5.7 and i loved it. I just sold it to someone else and put the stock one back on mine and i noticed there was a power loss by putting the stock one back on. I would definitly go with the 3030XL with the built in resinator. It sounds the best out of anything else and when your on the freeway you dont hear it at all.

I agree - great turbo-diesel muffler. On a gas engine it's a different story. Diesel engines don't have those sharp exhaust pulses, especially when further dampened by a turbo in the exhaust stream. Gas engines need more high frequency attenuation to get a quieter exhaust note.

If you run a properly designed resonator with the 3030 aero muffler, you'd be at a tolerable noise level, but I'm willing to bet you still won't be in compliance with most state's exhaust noise limits. I'm already far over the limits with my dumped magnaflows. I can only imagine how loud a dumped aeroturbine would be on a 5.7 Tundra

I installed the 2525 resonated version on my 2004 DC 4.7 and I liked the exhaust tone right away. However, we also cut out the stock resonator which proved to be a major mistake. The drone in the cab at 70-75 mph was very prominent. It drove my wife insane and me in the process. We solved it by putting a glass pack in where the original resonator had been. Now the truck has a nice sound to it and freeway travel is just fine.

As far as a horsepower gain I could not tell you. I did not dyno it but it did seem that I ended up ten miles over the speed limit a lot faster than usual.

The patent for the Aero turbine is based in part upon the ring inside that acts like an airfoil. It splits the incoming air stream and directs the outer portion of it along the walls of the muffler while the inner core of the exhaust stream continues to travel in a straight path. Since the outer layer of exhaust gas must travel a longer distance than the inner core of exhaust gas it has to speed up to catch up to the inner column of exhaust gas before it recombines with it. In theory this holds some validity but as an owner of an aero turbine I cannot say that it would be a measurable difference on a gasoline engine. I have read and heard that diesel owners are able to measure a significant difference in performance with the aero turbine.

I am not disappointed with it, but I am not sure I would buy it again. I think I would try out another exhaust to find the all elusive "perfect tone."

19+ MPG on the Highway at 75 MPH in a DC with a four speed automatic and a bad O2 sensor - not too shabby!

I had a 2525 on my 2000 4.7 with the stock resonator and it sounded great. It also had the most power out of the 3 systems I have been through. First was a magnaflow...there went the power. But it was to large so that was most of the problem, sounded good though. I managed to crack the 2525 down in baja and put a flowmaster on. The low end and throttle response was improved but mid and top ends suffered, sounds good though. That has been on there since. But they warrantied the 2525, so that has been wraped up new in the garage for years now.

Now I want to do the 5.7 finally ( I took the intake off till I got the exhaust in). And I want to go with a Turbine. I could use the 2525 and buy another and go true duals (out the side) or go with the 3030xl (out the side). I would prefer the single outlet and the 3030xl has a built in resonator.

wwh06, Did you go with a 2.25" to 3" Y into it? To me seems like a wierd setup. How did it work out? Why did you take it off? And do you think it would be too loud out the side? Thoughts people?

The 3030XL has a built in resonator, thats what it's so much longer.

Yes i did run a two into one into the muffler. I had mine dump out after the rearend. Its an excellent muffler and i sold many at my work cause i would show people how mine sounded and they liked it.I have the 5.7 crewmax and i wouldn't recommend dumping it in front of the rear wheel. But this was by far the best sounding exhaust i have ever heard. I only took it of cause i filed lemon law on my truck and i put it on his double cab and absolutly loves it.
