Re: Adding dual exhausts through Toyota pros/cons?
I'd recommend going with the Borla Dual Exhaust offered on TRD Sparks website. Its pretty much the exact same as the TRD exhaust since Borla makes it for Toyota.
I ordered the Borla from TRD it was around $630 but I live in Hawaii so shipping was alot of money.. the stealership will want around $1200 to do a complete install for you. Not worth it, the Borla is completely bolt on you need a ratchet, a few sockets, and about an hour worth of time.

If you do a bit of research, you might find some differences amongst the brands - for example, all stainless steel alloys aren't made the same. Drone and tone are different, side versus rear exits, and then you can make the performance assessments. It's a topic with a lot of depth. I enjoy my borla's including the way they look installed, including the way they sound.

Correct brother. Borla made the TRD duals for the Gen 1.
Typically TRD duals are quite conservative in terms of sound....just a decibel or two louder than stock. As a result they are not the best flowing, only offering a couple horses improvement. Not much "low hanging fruit" to be picked with such systems, since the catalysts remain.
Re: Adding dual exhausts through Toyota pros/cons?
After having the Magnaflow single out and switching to Borla duals I lost some tq..but the drone from the MF was horrible. I concur with everyone on here that recommends the Borla and if you are handy at all with cars/tools you can save a lot of money doing it vourself, it takes basic tools and about an hour.

I got the TRD duel exhaust for my 08 Tundra...I like them...conservative is how I would describe the sound. Exactly right when saying they are only a decible or so louder than stock...deeper throatier sound. Yes...I think they are over priced, but I wanted to stick with a "Toyota" product...so to speak. At least save a little money and install them yourself...I installed these on my own in maybe 30 minutes or so...it's seriously simple. I have no regrets on getting them...but there are just as good or better options for cheaper as noted from other posters.

Ditto, point for point except mines a 2007.
I will add, when you stab it...you know the TRDs are there 10 fold over stock.

Re: Adding dual exhausts through Toyota pros/cons?
I would reccomend you getting done yourself, or with someone's help.
Reason-- dealership prices are friggin outrageous. thye'll try to tell you some BS about warranty and whatnot, but they can only deny a warranty claim when taht particular part caused the damage. last i checked, have never ,ever heard that an aftermarket exhaust caused any damage.
As for the brand, check around the internet, you waill hear lots of opinions about different brands, just try to go with what you like. everyone will beat the drum for their choice, and it is difficult to get a real feel from a sound clip on the PC.
But avoid the costs associated with the dealer.
Ok, ( as I climb down from the soapbox)...LOL
Re: Adding dual exhausts through Toyota pros/cons?
I went with the Borla Duals. Got them at David Maus here in Sanford/Orlando. I also had them install it so it would be covered underneath my 7 year warranty. Same as with the TRD CAI for the 5.7
With the Borla duals you get a nice deep sound when you start up, and you definitely hear them when you floor it.
Cost of parts and installation for the Borla's was at around $1100, and the TRD CAI was close to $500, installation included.
You can order them from TRD Sparks for a cheaper price, and then have the dealership install it if you want it covered for the full warranty that you purchased/came with your Tundra
