Default Exhaust for a 4 cylinder Tacoma

Hey everyone! Well, the time to replace my worn and rusty stock muffler is nearing, and I'm considering putting in a "performance" one. It's next to impossible to find a bolt-on cat-back kit for this particular model ('01 Reg Cab 4x4), and there's really nothing wrong with the stock piping so I think I'm looking to replace the muffler only.

I thought you guys could help me make a decision here...my criteria:
1) I don't want the sound to be very loud in day-to day driving, preferably only when I get on the gas.
2) Absolutely no drone in the cab at highway speeds (most of my driving is highway).
3) I know it won't sound like a V8, but something close to it - or really any other sound but a ricer sound would be sweet. I know, I know, it's a 4-banger...there's gotta be somethin out there.

Ideas?!?

Have a look at Underdog Racing Development

In general the greater the muffler volume, the deeper the tone.

I had a flowmaster on my old honda. I believe it was a stage 3 and it sounded decent. I don't remember the specs on it but it was really quiet until I opened it up and no drone. I replaced a 18" glasspack that was getting too annoying. You may be able to go to a reputable performance exhaust shop and they will probably have some ideas for you.
