Default Flowmaster Suggestions

Hi, i've decided that i want to put in a Flowmaster muffler in my tundra ( just love its sound plus i've seen some vids of others brands i just like that flowmaster sound). i just dont know if i should get either the Super 40s or just the regular 40 series. I would like to know which one would sound better and if there are any diffrences in performance between the two?

I have a 2004 4.7L limited sidestep tunkbed tundra that i bought from my uncle who previously put in dual tips that split out behind the stock muffler. the cat backs and everything else is still there just he just added the dual tips

My plan is to just cut out the stock muffler and replace with the flowmaster to get that true growl a dual exhaust should have at a low cost and easy install.

Regular 40 is what you hear on most trucks and what I had on my 2000. Sounded great.

How loud is it compared to other exhausts? Is there a bad drone sound?

I also have 40 series, the super 40's exit underneath the bead so you'd have more in cabin drone with those. I love my 40 series, I got 2.25 inch pipes with the 3 inch tips, kinda wish I had 2.5. I'd say go with the 40's with 2.5's. I'm waiting for my Volant CAI right now which should add some rumble to it. Good luck

I just replaced my old 50 series SUV flomaster with 2 40 series and the difference in sound is night and day. I also stayed with the dual exits out the back and have no issues with drone at any speed or rpm. I did this only to get better sound and a side effect was that the truck now responds better to throttle input. I am not saying it is more powerful or torqy but it does feel different and has a really nice deep tone that is music to my ears.

i had a couple questions about my 02' tundra, i'm thinking about getting dual exhaust done on my truck through a muffler shop. the owner told me he'd do my exhaust for $350 after installation, the exhaust is cat back and its only one muffler (flowmaster 40 or 50 series) that splits into two pipes. i wasn't sure if this was a good deal or not since i'm only getting one muffler, or if it will even make a power difference. also i'm having a hard time deciding if i want the 40 or 50 series muffler because i didn't know if the 40 would be too loud. has anyone else done something similar and did they like the results?

umm that sounds like a good deal but dont take my word for it since i have no idea how much it was for my uncle to put on the dual tips that split after the muffler. thats is pretty much the same setup i have right now and the sound is wicked i love it. It has that deep rumble to it and its loud enough to enjoy but not so obnoxiouly loud like running straights. and I dont hear a drone so its all good for me. id say go with the super 40's since it gives a deeper tone.

I went with the super 40's which costed about $80ish from ebay and another $50 to have it welded on at a local muffler shop.

YouTube - Tundra Flows

go and check out that vid. you can heard it alright but sound way better inperson as do all videos

I had the super 40 series with single in and dual turndowns. WAY to loud for me. The drone inside the cabin was ridiculous. So i got rid of that and now i have a 14 inch single in single out magnaflow with turndown over the axle. quiet on the inside, loud on the outside. and defiantly not as raspy as the flowmaster.
