Default Exhaust Drone Question

Hey guys. Did some research on google and searched on the forum and didn't really see the answer I was looking for.

I just installed a Gibson Dual Extreme exhaust on my 5.7L V8 Crewmax. I LOVE IT. Sounds GREAT!

My question is about the drone. It's not too bad at all. But it's a bit louder than I expected, but not enough to bug me. But does the drone reduce at all as the exhaust gets broken in? As of now I have maybe 15 miles on it. Just a general simple question. Thanks!

Default Re: Exhaust Drone Question

There is no such thing as "Exhaust break-in"
Heat cycles DO NOT tune an exhaust system.
There is in fact "Muffler Blow-in" and "Muffler blow-out" common in fiber/ceramic fiber filled mufflers.Only exception is stainless steel wool.

The two primary causes of "exhaust droan" are reflection and or
"hot-spots" due to tubing transitions.
Common in/with most "kits" their droan is caused by heat building at the sound baffles, plates, panels or what ever and they then compound with the tubing transitions causing magnification of reflection resonance known as droan.
