There is nothing wrong with the stock exhaust piping, except maybe the y pipe. Just add in whatever performance muffler you want and go from there. No need to waste money doing a single setup. I'm running a Spintech Sportsman XL muffler and I like it. Some rumble and very little drone.

Crawl under there and measure the "longest" distance
before hitting the rear axle from the Cat/Y
then have ClassicChambered make you a custom length PowerStick (2.25"ID X 3" OD) est.30+"

If you have the money you should do the S&S longtube headers with their y pipe cats and flowmaster mandrel bent 2.5 aluminized universal tailpipe kit. I dyno'd before and after, added 18 hp and 11 tq to the wheels. Not bad for a weekend of work. Otherwise just use the stock tubing and put in a flow through design. Just make sure there you measure the inner diameter of the stock tubing and the muffler is extremly close. If off too far there would be turbelence and it would actually hurt power not help.

Yeah I seen that y pipe!! They just smashed that guy in there lol, ihad a spintec on my taco sounded real good. I just might go that route! Or what do you think of the banks single exhaust?? It's more expensive but alot of people seem to adore them! I just want some rumble with little to no drone and no lost of lowend grunt.

most aftermarket exhaust systems use oversized tubing, I don't know that is the case with banks, but don't they call it a Monster Exhaust. If you still have the stock manifolds there is no benefit to having larger diameter tubing in the exhaust. Simply get a borla or magnaflow and cut out the old to put in the new. don't dump it make it exit the vehicle or you will get the drone

Thank you sir, that makes perfect sence to me saves money!! Does anyone recomendations for a muffler? I had a spintech on my SC 3.4 taco that sounded really good, I know flowmasters are too loud for my taste nowdays.

I would stay with the Spintech. Not a fan of Flowmasters. Got Magnaflow catback on the Goat but its too quiet, replacing with Spintech soon. Sportsman XL is what Spintech recommends.

spintech is the same concept as flowmaster, only instead of delta baffles, they use a spun baffle, you know? it kinda looks like those 70's hypnotic illusions. Both designs do an awesome job of reflecting the noise back into the system to quiet down the exhaust. They do sometimes add more back pressure than needed. It sounds like you already have your mind made up to use a Spintech, not a bad muff. If you don't mind the quietness you may want to re-consider the Magnaflow or a Borla. They absorb the sound rather than reflect it. The more fiberglass packing there is and the longer the muff is, the quieter it is. Just choose a muff that is smaller in diameter, and is short and you'll have that growl. And still open up the backpressure a little. Most important of all, no matter what muff you choose make sure it is the same diameter, larger or smaller by very much ROBS your torque or horsepower, I've tried both ways. The inner diameter of the stock exhaust is 2 3/8" difficult to find, but with persistence you won't do your exhaust mod for nothing.

Lol you are not making this any easier!! I really do appreciate all your knowledge. I actually called the local exhaust shop today, he said he didnt carry any spintec exhaust..." I have better exhaust!! come on down and I'll show you some"...lol...so I guess hes going to try to sell me something..I wonder what he going to try to dump on to me?? lol but I'm going monday and see what my options are!

Ok I got it installed yesterday, wanted spintec, they didn't have it so I went with the borla. I had them cut out the old muff, then went with 3 inch on the tail pipe.

Sounds good , on the quieter side but I'm sure it will loosen up a bit, but if it remains the same I'll be just as happy! As for interior drone, none that I can tell ... But there is a nice littlt boost in the lowend acceleration! Which was totaly unexpected surrprise w0ot!!!!.

Thanks again fellas for your input

I just did the same on my 05 DC. Only I went with an 18" Magnaflow and 3"tip. It is just the sound I was looking for, just a nice deep smooth V8 tone, not overbearing but music to my ears!

And I got it all for $188.

Glad you're happy with the Borla! Looks like they make good stuff.

Ya I just put a muff on mine. I've got the S&S long tubes since I'm a dealer with them. I built an entire system from the heads to tail pipe. I originally did it with no muff since I ran it all the way to the back of the truck. It was still too loud and sounded really raspy. I went with a Borla as well. For how tiny this thing is, it's pretty quiet. Almost too quiet, but I'd rather have that than the waaaaaaay too loud that it was.

I think it will be right where I want it when I take off the cats

Let us know how it sounds with the cats out!! yeah it is way to small to be that quiet lol maybe it will get a tad louder, i wouldnt mind that! but if not it's fine.

Hey did you guyz notice some performance gains!?!?!
