Default Gutting Catalytic Converters

One of my friends said he can cut off my cats and hollow them out and weld them back for me. I have true dual right now and I been wanting it to be louder so I was thinking about doing this. I was just worried about my back pressure and how would I go about fooling the o2 sensors so I dont get a check engine light...is this bad for my truck to do?

You will get a CEL unless you get some O2 sensor simulators for the rear O2 sensors.

Ya i read some other threads and saw a website for some for my truck. Only $89 for dual o2 simulators...where are the o2 sensors at specifically? I just hook that up to them and I am good to go? Nothing will hurt my truck?

Gutting "High Flow" Cats is nonsense
Crackling,Pingy,Raspy exhaust tone will certainly over ride any "loud"
you are looking for.

You will regret it .....

I guess you could call them high flow cats when many peoples get clogged up and I heard one the other day and it sounded pretty beastly. I am just trying to find another way to get my truck louder. I don't want to buy new mufflers

Gutting a perfectly good set of catalytic convertors does not make much sense to me when OEM catalytic convertors are over $1,000 each. If you really want to do something like this just remove them and install a pipe with threads for the O2 simulators and see how you like it.

I am not sure what the guts (platinum) are selling for but I can gut them for you too. Got to be at least a couple hundred dollars in each one. To my knowledge the cats do not present any significant resistance to the exhaust.

19+ MPG on the Highway at 75 MPH in a DC with a four speed automatic and a bad O2 sensor - not too shabby!

the o2 sim is installed in wiring harness just before the computer.not sure where it is on the 2 gen tundra, but on 1 gen its behind glove box. it won't help you to do this. response is less, torque is less, smells bad, you will be chasing codes, even after CUTTING into your main wiring harness.

welcome to problems if you do this. If you're near sd, give me your cats, I'll make you a tube in their place for free.

If you want it louder, replace the mufflers with straight pieces of pipe. I guarantee it'll be louder.
