Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
Depends on the season for me. I do much, much more off-road driving during hunting season up here (Sep-Dec). I do a little bit in the spring and summer for camping, but that's about it.
Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
Both. I like that it looks better plus I do use it. I don't go out just to go off road but definately use it (but really only need it a couple times a year) on my hunting trips.
Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
I do some offroading whenever I see a nice trail thats wide enough for no arizona pinstriping thats the only part about off road I hate I love the mud and everything else just not the scrathes.

Pretty much depends on where the boat ramp is, mainly got it for the 4 wheel drive for pulling out of those nasty ramps down here on the florida coast. Also because I had nightmares of my trailblazer under the boat at the ramp & it looks cool. Wife has the trailblazer now.
Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
Ride off road? .... hell, I live off road! It's 2 1/2 miles of gravel from my garage to the closest tar road. Or, how about when I take it out on the ice covered lake - does that count as "off road"? Also travel some fairly rough gravel roads deer/moose hunting and occassionally just to see where the road takes me. Huge network of logging roads in my area.
Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
I live on a 4000 acre ranch and drive from my house(which has power, phone) to the main ranch which is about 8 miles in 4WD nearly every day. We have about 35 miles of road (if you can call it a road), on the ranch. Once I am at the main ranch I usually use my 85 Toyota Pickup unless I have to take heavy loads to the herds. My 85 has 5:56 gears, a LS up front and a full time locker in the rear, it has 45Kmiles on it and I bought new. It has only seen pavement the day I bought it.
Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
I do quite a bit. Don't get me wrong I don't go trail riding in Moab, but I will do alot of Elk/Deer hunting in the fall and during this summer I'll pull my camp trailer to some good spots (no paved or $10 a night campgrounds for me). I knew if I didn't get it I would be regretting it later.
Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
My truck is too nice to drive it off road. I make good money but I don't make enough to trash 30,000 dollar trucks off roading them. Of course what is the definition of off road? I have been told that Toyotas hold their value better here in Alaska if they have the TRD package. I didn't buy my truck to tear it up. I bought it because I live in a place where the roads are legendary for their condition and on top of that there is snow/ice on them about seven months of the year. Anyone that lives in Alaska gets plenty of experience driving in 4 wheel drive just by living here. Right now it is Africa hot in Alaska. 80 plus degrees today with a threat of thunderstorms.

I take frequent weekend trips to Baja, Mexico. Surfing, partying, ect., and you need TRD to drive on the paved roads, let alone the miles of hectic dirt "roads" we take to get to the secret spots.
And the four wheel discs come in handy when cows are sleeping in the middle of the road!
Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
And how many of you guys really think the TRD package is really an off-road package? I don't. A regular Tundra 4x4 can go just about anywhere a TRD packaged Tundra can go.
I got the TRD package because I like the wheels, comes with fog lights and hella cool stickers.
Re: How many of you TRD owners really ride off-road?
TRD all the way. I hunt and you never know what type of conditions we might experience, nasty boat ramps, and sometimes no boat ramp, getting stuck in or wanting to hunt dove just after it rains if I don't have the 4 wheeler, inclement weather etc. I like to have it under me just in case I need it. I will still be careful with it and not going to go rag it out just because it's a 4X4. I really like the ride also.
