Default POLL: Synthetic or Dino Oil?

Just wondering what others are running in their truck. I am presently running Dino Valvoline 5w 20 in my truck now. Changed at 1300 miles and have 3800 miles now. Thinking of going back to synthetic for fewer oil changes.

Check out royal purple synthetic motor oil. They have some info on their website.

IMO I think synthetic produces more power and protects better but isn't required.

I will be using synthetic after I get some miles on my truck.

Mobil One Synthetic 5w20 & have been using it since 5000 miles. Now have 11500 on the odo.

I don't beleive dino protects up to a 5000 mile interval as synthetic does IMO.

Agree Mobile 1 is a great product with a good rep. Its also very available. Im sure the other makers syn oils are good choices also. I have always been a fan of Castrol dino oils, so i would not hesitate to use there syn either.

Default Re: POLL: Synthetic or Dino Oil?

I go down to the local quick lube and get 7 qts of used oil for mine. Its free and already comes DIRTY. ( Mobile One for me, am considering Amsoil )
I think its pretty obvious that most of the responses are PRO Syn.

Default Re: POLL: Synthetic or Dino Oil?

The difference between Synthetic and "Dino" is primarily the re-arrangement of the molecular structure of the Oil.

The oil is the same oil, except the Synthetic is modified on a molecular level and needs less additives than conventional mineral oil.

If you use synthetic oil, why wouldn't you use 0W20 instead of 5W20?
