I voted for GM...even though I refuse to buy a Government motors vehicle....here is why.
I think Ford is a better truck, but their powertrain is the worst in the industry by a large margin.
GM isn't much better. The 6.0 has cylinder deactivation...and I'd never buy a vehicle with that. The 6.2 is a nice motor, but is very thirsty and the tow ratings are lower.
This goes back to my truck hunt. If the Tunda didn't exist, I would not own a gasser or 1//2 ton. I'd own a diesel varient of some kind and right now, the Duramax / Allison tranny is by far the winning combination for reliability and fuel mileage.
Now, if the new 6.7L diesel from Ford turns out to be a reliable motor, than I'd switch my vote to a Superduty as those are nice trucks. The 6.4 is just a lame duck that gets horrible mileage.

The GMC looks nice, but only if you can get through GM quality, like changing fuel pumps and ECM/PCM's. Ford's newer styling is bleh, too squarish. The Dodge is nice, if they come out with a power wagon version w/ a Cummins engine.

Being as I need a half-ton Double Cab with a 6.5 ft. bed,the ONLY choice is the Ford F-150 To this day GM will not build a truck I could useMy 06 Tundra was everything I needed but I sold it last year (shopping for another one) I've tried to like the newer Tundras but that DC style ain't for me.
I chose Ford and would go with an F-150, although I might
be better off buying a Big Wheel with a trailer hitch for
my little red wagon!

Dodge Ram. I have a 2009 and no regrets. I had my heart set on a Sequoia, but Toyota restarted production too late when I was in the market for another vehicle, thus the selection was poor as dealer lots were mostly empty. Then Toyota adds 0% apr for the vehicle when none are available. Dumb marketing.
NO other truck can replace a Toyota truck. GM's are unreliable, Fords powertrains are trash, Dodge is owned by Fiat...Oh god, and well Nissan should stick to making cars. I love me a nissan car.

I would have opted for a Chevy, mostly because my late father worked for them and at the time I bought the Tundra (he was still alive) I could have got a large discount. But the Tundra was so much better that the Chevy it wasn't a contest. He didn't like it, but ain't that the father-son thing anyways (even when you're 56 and he's 80)

I opted for Ford, simply because had I been the one doing the research, I would have started there, as I grew up in a "Ford family." Toyota would've likely been the second place in my hunt, as I had an '82 that I loved. In fact, Mrs. Doc started there when she started researching, but came to the conclusion that the Tundra was the best choice. I imagine I would have done the same.
