Since this board started out as a Tundra site i've notice a lot More Tacoma roaming this site so Now I get to ask the question why did you pick your current truck over the other...
Well, this thread is a little biased as it has been placed inside the Tundra Section, therefore, the Tundra will get more votes (traffic) than a Tacoma. I voted Tacoma, but I wanted a Tundra Access Cab 4x4 V6.
I ended up with the 2000 Tundra because most everything I'd researched on the Tacoma and other short wheelbase trucks in that time frame indicated they pitched back and forth with some highway surfaces. After driving two 26 ft rental trucks across country when we moved that did bucking bronco oscillations I wasn't taking any chances. Oklahoma's I-40 was far and away the worst with Iowa's I-35 next. The seat/shoulder belts would have me in a strangle hold so tight after 25 miles I'd have to stop to release the buckle. Anyway my choice has nothing to do other members choices and I'm happy and bet they are also.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to siphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
If your engine doesn't consume ANY oil it will seize???
Some people should not be allowed access to tools without books!!!

Rival i'll get a moderator to include this on the Tacoma end since I tend to agree it need's to be fair on both end's not that I am Biased
See you in Jan 06 for the auto show hopefully it's not too cold In Detroit(urggggg)
When I bought my 04 Tundra D/C, the Tacoma was the smaller version. When I test drove the new Taco a few months ago, I would of bought the new Taco instead of the Tundra. However, I love my Tundra and wouldn't give it up until the new 3/4 Ton comes out in another year or so.

I tried the Tacoma, my shoulders were too wide for the seat and it felt a bit small in it. So the dealer moved me to the Tundra, took it for a test drive, and there I was, with eyes spinning with love for the Tundra that I sat in. I said to my uncle who was sitting in the back seat at the time, "I want this truck!" Its been my very special truck ever since, hasn't given me grief yet.
Tundra = holds five BIG people with ease. Also hauls a trailer, or just itself, very well. For us the Tacoma, while great looking, just doesn't have the space. Or that thumper of a small V8
I had a tacoma until earlier this year... I had a '96 5-speed manual 4x4 regular cab w/ a 4 cylinder engine. First off, I'm a pretty big guy (6'2"/225 lbs) and while it wasn't too small to be comfortable, I did crave more room. It always seemed to be lacking the power I wanted, had to shift into 4th to maintain the speed limit up some hills on the interstate. I decided from there on, the next vehicle I bought would have the biggest engine that was offered in it. The other thing I hated about that truck was the traction sucked, it was always sliding when it rained unless I put it in 4 wheel drive. It was awsome in 4 wheel drive, we had a huge snow last year and it handled it with ease when lots of other vehicles were getting stuck. Anyway, I was driving to the store one day this past March and it started to snow lightly... I was on the interstate going too fast to put it in 4 wheel drive, top speed to shift it in was abotu 25mph if I remember correctly (plus I had manual locking hubs anyway). When I got off an interstate exit, I hit a patch of ice, after fish-tailing from side to side 2 or 3 times, it went off the side, I was sliding sideways, then it rolled over. That was the end of the taco. Landed back on 4 wheels and I drove it to the repair garage. The insurance company totaled it (it was close to not being totaled).
So, with the insurance money, I started looking for a T-100 (my uncle has one and I love it). T-100's are a b!tch to find, I wanted to pay cash so I didn't have a car payment. After finding that I didn't have enough money to buy the T-100 without a car payment, I figured might as well just get a tundra, since I'm gonna have to deal with a payment anyway. So, I started looking at tundras, found one at a local dealer. It was a black 2002 Limited Access Cab. Drove it, and it was ok, but didn't really like it that much... so when I got back and told the salesman I wasn't real impressed, he told me they just got one in that was a white SR5, but they hadn't cleaned it up yet. He let me drive that one, it was a little messy, some mud underneath and needed to be buffed. Checked all the fluids and everything looked... so drove that one and absolutely loved it. It took 4 days to get the price where I wanted it, but I picked it up... I've never been big on white, but after having it for awhile, I'm liking it now... everyone says white shows dirt, I've found that to be wrong... when I wash my truck I don't think its that dirty until I take a swipe across the roof with a sponge and see the difference, its amazing...
So, that's my story, got a little long... pretty much just wanted more space & power...
Well, for starters you had posted this on the Tundra forum, not a Tacoma one and of course your conclusion wouldn't be valid, did you also post this on the Tacoma forum?
Tundra, much better looking than the Tacoma in '02, and we wanted a V8, O YEAH BABY, I FEEL THE POWER
i didnt have a choice, i was driving a 97 f-150 5 speed that was bought off the forest service. well my grandparents got sick of me driving it and said no your not driving that anymore and their old business partner was selling a 2003 limited with the TRD blower on it so i said what the hell and got it.
