Default Tundra Totaled by Drunk Driver

I was hit by a drunk driver last Thursday night and my Tundra may be totaled. The frame rail is bent and the floor board is buckled up into the cab. I'm almost certain they will total it. In antisipation of that I'm taking a poll to get your opinions. Let me know what you think. I can replace my totaled 2005 with a 2006 or buy a stop gap car or truck and wait for the 2007 new model.

Thanks,
Jim

I would wait and get an 07. If you are going to get a new truck, you might
as well get a new truck.

Do you tow alot? Do you need the extra HP's and other goodies? If your 2005 suited you well and you are not in need of the larger motor and towing then I would go with the 2006. BUT if you tow and need more power go with the 2007 or if you can wait a 2008

Might try www.leasetrader.com for a gap car. Might be cheaper then buying a car and paying sales tax and such on a used car only to sell it. Plus you can get a new car and not an old POS.

Buy the 07 only if you need a truck that large. If not consider that first year models, even Toyotas, have more problems than any other years.

The more I consider my options the more I think the 06 will do just fine. I don't have an immediate need to tow 10,000lbs right now. Point taken on everyone's concern over the new model year. Thanks for everyones input so far.

Glad you are ok too. As a new Toyota Tundra owner I am very pleased w/my 06 to date (5001 miles). Like the others, I second the opinion about the size truck you want and what you intend to use it for......and the 1st year out deal, I would wait if you want a year or two for the larger model.

Ok, I have a few pictures to post hopefully they'll come through ok. They totaled it because the firewall was so damaged. They said if they hand't have totaled it, it may have been two months before it was completely repaired.

I've decided to get the '06 Tundra with all the specs I have in my signature line. I'm being quoted out the door, tax, tags, title and rebate $36,453.05. Can anyone tell me if this is a great deal or not? This is basically what I paid for my 2005 and there matching it but at another dealer. My original dealer won't match this deal.
