I've got a 99 CRV that we bought new. I've had two other Honda's, all of the superior in quality. Very good vehicles. That being said, I won't buy another Honda, at least not til their quality goes back up to the way it was pre2000ish. I've had no problems with our CRV, 122,000 miles on it now, only seen the dealer once for the timing belt change last year.
Now, Toyota, I've owned three, including my current Tundra. I see it the other way, our 96 was just ok, the other, can't remember what the year, like 89 or so, was too ok. My Tundra, I would highly recommend over and over again. Toyota in my opinion, has gotten waay better over the years. Now, as far as just keep going and going, I'd give them that through all the years, but quality in cheap plastic parts and such, they've gotten way better. Honda, is going the other way, they were really good 10 years ago, but like I said, I won't buy another til they get out of the slums....

Yes, I would. I have been EXTREMELY happy with the truck in my signature. It is the best truck I have ever owned. With the all NEW 07's coming out, that is a different story. I wouldn't recommend anyone buying in the first production year,no matter whom the manufacturer is.

Answer: YES! For the Toyota bashers out there- why do you still own one, and why do you belong to a group dedicated to them? I have owned 4 Toys over the years. Started with a 93 pickup. Put 241,000 on it(no problems) before a 17 year old rear ended me and totalled it. Went out the next day and bought a 01 Tacoma ext.cab SR5. It has 150,000 on it with no problems. I use it when I build patio covers for my work. My wife drives a 02 Camry SE. It has 50,000 on it. I also have my 04 Tundra access cab. It has about 50,000 on it and again, no problems. Mind you I am not bagging on Honda. They make great CARS. We had a 91 Civic Hatchback SI. It was a good car. Only problem is AC system went out. $2000 later, problem solved. As for the truck, not a big fan of the style, and too new to have a proven track record. I'll stick with the Toyota.

My 02' Tundra with 130,000 miles is the easiest to drive and quickest pickup I've owned. No problems other than normal maintenance. I drive it 100-200 miles a day averaging 17-18 mpg. It pulls my 3000 lbs. boat as well, if not better than my 5.3L Avalance. For over 30 years prior to the Tundra, I drove both Fords and Chevys with good service, however, not as quick or easy to get around town. The Tundra handles like a sports car in comparison. Waiting for the 2007.

NO bashing But clearly stated On record I wouldn't ever Buy a first Gen Truck ever again like my old 00 Tundra. It's proven fact's That Toyota will rush a product out the door that bug's are not addressed in a timely manner (brake sucks) and a recall was needed Not a Tsb...
Safety the Tundra does very well I had My last 00 Totalled and got another Tundra based on that factor and the v8 is a rocket gem who level's of refinement kepts it on top's..
The first generation Ridgeline's most common complaints are a squeaky steering wheel, and leaks around the weather seal on the doors and sunroof. In that link I provided to the thread I started at the Ridgeline Owners Club, I did not get a single negative comment or someone who did not recommend their Ridgeline.

Is something supposed to be here?
I have a 2000 and it climbs hills better than most vehicles do on the flat. The only problem right now is that my horn only works in certain positions of the wheel and even then it is hard to push to work. Other than that it is great.
I'd recommend one depending on what the buyer had in mind regarding use. You need something top pull a house and still get good fuel economy, buy a Dodge Cummins. I've owned five Toyota's since the mid 80's. The problem is, the company has morphed who it wants for its target market. Back in the day, Toyota was going after guys wanting fuel effiecent off road vehicles. According to a TRD rep I spoke with awhile back, he stated the Tundra's target market is 40 something, middle to upper middle class males where 80% of their owners will never take the vehicle off road. This makes sense given the thing rides more like a Cadillac, has about as much ground clearance as my wifes car, and only comes in an automatic. Ever sense he told me this, I've paid attention and I see far more older guys driving these trucks than young guys. If I could trade my Tundra in on a brand new 85 Toyota Four Runner like my old one that got 25 mpg, I'd do it in a heart beat. Although, if they came out with a Toyota Tacoma minus the plastic front end that had a 3.0 Hilux diesel, I'd buy two and put one in storage.
I voted yes because I love my tundra, but seeing as how there has been a ton of talk about Honda's here I would like to say this: For one, I owned a 1994 Honda Prelude 5-speed with about 135,000 miles on it and it was the biggest peice of crap... The clearcoat on the paint was coming off left and right, the sunroof was rusting, and on AVERAGE Id say I spent about 350$ per month fixing something that was wrong with it. To be fair I've heard that the model years of 92-96 preludes had quite alot of problems that werent true of all honda's. and for two, the ridgeline is hideous
Even though I love my chevy now, there's no question that I would recommend a Tundra, they are very nice trucks. They are a smaller/lighter duty truck when compared to the other big three trucks besides the double cab tundras, but they do very well in the big midsize category.
I also looked at the Ridgeline when I bought my 06 DC 4x4 in February. I went with the Tundra for several reasons, but mainly the Toyo has a bed (slightly) longer than 6 feet and I wanted to be able to sleep in the bed after I put a shell on it. Plus, Toyota has been building trucks a whole lot longer than Honda and I just had a better feel about the Tundra over the long haul.
