Isn't this a kind of biased place to ask if someone would recommend a Tundra? It's like going to the NRA's website and asking if people should be allowed to own firearms. Just my .02

Ya it def. more or less is, but I am also a owner of many GM's and I would reccommend both. So I am not totally biased and I am sure many others aren't either. The Honda Ridgeline isn't a truck, if you want a car with a bed, more power to you...
It's easy to recommend a new truck. No one has had it long enough to know what the problems are. You are not comparing apples to apples. Plus, the Ridgeline is not a real truck. If someone does not need a truck with real 4wd Low then the Ridgeline is a good choice. If you need a real truck then it sucks. Frankly, most people don't need a truck. Honestly, most people could do what they do with the tundra with a decent car and a trailer. But if you need a truck you need a truck. The ridgeline is a good middle ground between a car and a truck. It's better then the Tundra if you don't need 4wd Low.
I disagree, while some trucks had their issues, for the most part these are great trucks. If you recall the posts from prior years, most owners of these trucks really enjoyed them. I've not had any problems with my 01 Tundra, no tranny problems, no brake problems, etc. I realize this doesn't help those that did, but calling them a POS is going too far.

It's the early pre Tundra that didnt go very well with Tundra in general having owned One a brand New 00 Tundra with serious brakes problem's I wouldnt buy these year's and avoid them . so yes I agree (Pos) is a bad Term to use from my end but maybe use the term "Avoid them model year's" is well suited to a tee hopefully that can clear up any issues between pasted Tundra and present redefined Tundra..
If I were not towing a 5,000+ lbs trailer, I would definitely have a Ridgeline instead of my Tundra. It really rides like a car and is just enough truck to haul my band gear, mulch and junk around. But, it won't tow like a Tundra. Just like a Tundra won't tow like a 3/4 ton (or 1 ton). Buy what fits your needs.
I Love my truck. I wouldn't trade it for a Honda or a "Mitsu'Fordy'Dodge'olet" pickup at ANY cost. (Gas prices and all)
My wife just made the mistake of buying a 06 F150 Super Cab FULLY LOADED to the hilt w/ the 5.4 and towing s&&& and all that. My lovely "Jap Trap" takes pride in puling her out of one muddy situation SIDEWAYS with 2wd and stock tires. My third Yota' and not my last. I tow out of OD.. not because the planitary gears in the pre 03's are made out of plastic.... but b/c the manual says so. Nuff said.
Oh hell yes! I've heard about brake problems. I have 90,500 on the original brakes. I heard of O2 sensor problems. I haven't had one. My truck gets 18.5 miles per gallon and starts every time hot or cold. I am on my second set of tires and expect to get about 10k more before replacement. The ride is great - comfortable without too much body lean in the corners. Everything feels precise, from the switchgear to the engine and tranny. Can you tell I love this truck? I can't imagine parting with it. I have driven the new Tacoma and the six speed is nice with the 4.0, but it feels a little small after the Tundra. I'll have another look when I get 200,000 miles on her, but for now, I don't need anything else.
The Tundra is the most boring vehicle I have ever owned.
Lets see.....I put gas in it....do maintenance.....wash it.....and drive it.
I did have one little bit of excitement once: The o2 sensors needed replaced under a letter from Toyota. Other than that, new tires, some front brake pads, (rear ones still looked new), and thats about it.
Isn't this what we all want? A truck we DON"T have trouble with ?
I love my truck but I made it the way I like it. Level or lifted front end, different muffler, wheels and tires, headers, and etc. From the factory I think it's a good truck as far as reliability goes. It's definetly not a "heavy duty" truck. It doesn't take much weight in the bed to make it squat. The commercial shows a Tundra towing a Bobcat, I sure wouldn't try that with my truck. I would think with Toyota's technology that 14mpg should be up around 20mpg or a little more. I would also think that having an "Iforce" V8 with all those valves would give a big advantage over other 4.7's (like the one in the Dakota), yet the guy at work with the Dakota stays pretty even with me when racing.

I live in the moutains in NH and purchased a new year end 04 Tundra extended cab to pull a new 19ft travel trailer. In 2005 we did 14,591 miles from Jackson, NH across Canada from Quebec to the Yukon up into Alaska and back by way of Montana on the return. Did almost 4k miles in AK alone and a lot of it was on gravell roads. This year we just got back from a 5500 mile trip with the trailer to Durango Co. We went up through passes as I recall were aproximately 10,500 feet in places and many others in the 7 8 and 9 thousand range. To keep the transmission from hunting on the steep stuff I just put in in 2nd and kept the revs at aprox 3,500 or so and up and over we went. Happy with my Tundra? You bet I am! I'm just going shopping for new tires as the originals now have about 36,000 on them. The only modifications I did to help with the trailer was to install a set of Timbrens on the rear axle. We just love this truck. I was trusting in what I had heard about them and in my experience it is proving to be true.
Yes if you were hauling your kids around to a soccer game. Great ride, comfortable, roomy, but not the 4 wheel drive I was expecting. Bad gas mileage, not set up for any type of extreme off roading. I owned a Tacoma before I bought my current Tundra and I miss that locker in the rear end. That little Tacoma would outwheel a Jeep. After my accident I went with the Tundra for safety reasons. But going up in the mountains and wheeling... it's better suited for the mall.
