Now that the 2008 Dodge Dakota is updated with a 290hp 4.7 it would be nice if Toyota took notice and dropped the 4.7 into the Taco.
I know it's been touched on before but with the 07 Tundra just released at rediculous MSRP's and probably too bulky for most daily drivers I was wondering how many people would buy or consider buying a beastly tacoma with a V8?
I'd get the first one off the assembly line! lol............

Still to come: custom dash kit, JBA headers, exhaust, and eventually custom paint. And whatever else looks appealing!
I'd consider it if the price was right but as you touched on, a Tacoma w/ a V8 would likely be in the low 30's.. Then you get into that whole gray area of "is this too much money for what I'm getting?" Personally, I think the 4.0 is good enough for the Tacoma because if you were to put that V8 in there you'd see MPG numbers that are borderline unacceptable for that size truck. JMO.

Better yet, they could drop the 5.7 into the Taco and shave about 200 pounds in other places. I think they should shape it like a bullet, develop a fuel line to hold an extra gallon of gas...get her primed, painted and weighed...and then get her out on that race track.
They surely need the 4.7 liter V8 in there. I'd love to have that super smooth/torquey engine in there with a 6 speed. They did it in that incross concept!
At least give us a diesel.

Does anyone know how much each engine weighs? Just wondering if there might be a problem with too much weight on the front end if the V8 weighed considerably more.

I'm sure if it came from the factory, they would put in heavier springs to compensate for the extra weight.
