Are you conservative or liberal in your political beliefs?
I wanted to see what type of people that is on TS forum. I for one is on the conservative side. I am not a Republican though. Both sides have good and bad points and most politicians are in the self interest mode IMHO.

I make Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter look like Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell.
Re: Are you conservative or liberal in your political beliefs?
I know I'll be out on limb on this one, but I lean left. The older I get the worse it becomes. Grew up in Montana, a socially conservative state. Am a little socially conservative but find that if we held on to beliefs without change (a progressive stance). Kids would have full time jobs (12 hour days without unions), slavery and domestic abuse would be totally acceptable and hell for all we knew the world would still be flat. My idea of a good news show is Keith Olbermann. You asked for it, there it is. P.S. Being liberal doesnt make you weak, I love Trucks, Skiing, Hockey, and yeah I've probably been in more fights that you have. Oh, cant forget beer.

Re: Are you conservative or liberal in your political beliefs?
Anyone reading some of my past posts would think me to be completely conservative. I guess this is mostly true, but I like to sprinkle a little "left" in for good measure. Some of my beliefs (I know, I know, who cares):
Seal the borders, boot ALL illegals (not just Mexicans) and completely re-structure how we let people in. No more BS "instant" citizenship when Maria (or anybody else) jumps on this side of the border and squirts out a baby.
Put strict limits on the utilization of welfare. After all, put someone on welfare back to work........send an illegal back home. We shouldn't have to support all of these losers unless we can write them off on our taxes
Gay marriage? sure, why not. If they want to get married, let 'em. When one of their highly volatile relationships fizzle and they divorce, one of them gets to lose half of their stuff just like the rest of us. I just want to be there so I can say "remember, this is what you asked for. Now let the alimony payments commence."
Guns? Everyone should both own them and be skilled in using/disassembling/cleaning them. Carry permits for all law abiding citizens. Criminals would have wonder whether or not their intended victims were armed.
Abortion? I'd rather see an abortion than see another tiny body in a trash bag taken out of a dumpster. What's the slogan? "Life....what a wonderful choice?" yeah right. As mentioned in the movie Parenthood, "you have to have a license to drive a car, but any jerk can be a father". I would only listen to someone preach pro-life if they had 1 or more adopted children at home. Some folks tell their children that the reason that they can't get a puppy is that they can't afford to feed it. Why is this philosophy not used for procreation? Since there's so much irresponsible babymaking across this great country of ours, I say, the more abortions the fewer future welfare recipients.

Re: Are you conservative or liberal in your political beliefs?
.
I used to be conversative. Believed in the RVN when I was fighting in it. Now, years later, we know it was a waste of teasury & lives. The same will probably a ditto for today.
Liberal and conversation labels mean nothing to me today.
Big Business has already bought both parties ... and we better learn to speak Chinese ... so our Chinese Bankers will be able to understand us.
This is supposed to be a conversative administration in "defination of that word".
Hummm .. what have they done that is "conversative" ... "Spending $$$ & Conversative Use of Military Force" ?????
Nah .. don't think soo.
I like Keith Olbermann and John Daly for news. ... lol ...
Oh, we did a straw poll from my old flight squadron .. 11 of 13 were NO on GWB .. the other 2 abstained.
If you are conversative and believe in the troops ... write GWB and Dicky and tell them that the military and the VA hospitals need more money to take care of these shot up and psychologically injured soldiers.
I work with them as a volunteer to help them TRY get what they were promised and it's an giant uphill battle every day.
SOS
Me .... Conversative ??? ... or ... Liberal ???? ... Nah, I am neither .. .... Today ... I am a .... "REALIST"
.
Maybe I am becoming a liberal and didn't know it.

I couldn't agree more. The abortion one always makes me chuckle. It's easy to wave a sign in a woman's face when YOU don't have to deal with the consequences of her decision, regardless of what she chooses.
I am middle of the road, but lean to the right. I believe in personal accountability, the right to bear arms, not donating 75% of my paycheck to the government, etc. However, even as a Christian, I feel that certain mingling of church and state (i.e. abortion) can be VERY dangerous once you start crossing certain lines. You let lawmakers decide what you do with your babies...where will they stop?
Re: Are you conservative or liberal in your political beliefs?
I dont think Im either. I dont believe in labels like that because I believe it make you prejudge someone. I dont even think we should have political parties because IMO all they serve to do is divide us on every possible issue.
I think we should kick out all the illegal immigrants and make it much tougher to become a citizen. They say that America is a melting pot, but at some point the pot becomes full.
I also think that we should give tax beaks to companies who build their products in the United States. Im sick and tired of Ford, GM and Chrysler building their vehicles in places like Mexico and Korea and trying to pass them off as American, while preaching about buying American. Its kinda like saying, "dont do as I do, do as I say."
I also think we need to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan. Those people have been killing each other for hundreds, if not thousands of years and we are stupid if we think that us being there is going to suddenly make them play nice. They say they want us out of their country and I say we go. Then, when the country falls into chaos and they beg us to come back and try to restore order, we should say, "Nope. You said you wanted us out of your country. Its your problem now!" IMO, the United States is much too quick to help out other coutries. These countries badmouth us constantly and wouldnt help us out no matter what the circumstances, so why do we constantly rush to their aid? You can bet that if the roles were reversed, they wouldnt do a thing to help us.

I like to say I'm part of the Common Sense Party
Abortion, like 99% of all other Federal Laws, should not exist as a National Law. As a personal issue that effects individuals it should be a State matter and not a Federal one. This is the true legacy of the War of Seccession. The States lost their power when the Federal government allowed itself to declare war on its constituent States. After that it was open season on States Rights and consequentually Individual Rights. Abortion, Welfare, Social Security, The Patriot Act, Federal Income tax, all illegal if you use basic reading skills in perusing our Constitution.
Oh wait! I forgot! The Constitution hasn't been the law of the land since the passage of the Emergency War Powers Act of 1933. That's right folks, the Constitution does not apply until the Congress repels that particular Act. Google that one for a good time.

I couldn't agree more. How did we get to this point?
Re: Are you conservative or liberal in your political beliefs?
When I was growing up...I think I still am...republican and democratic where very important. One way or another was a way of life.
Now, I feel it's just a name, or view so to speak and not the importance it once was. The "name" that is.
Obviously the liberal and conservative seem to have taken over the republican and democratic stake.
I feel that someday, probably not in my life time the political sides will no longer be an option but will be replaced by "liberal" or "conservative".
But then again, that would throw a wrench into the whole delegate thing wouldn't it.
I was raised on staunch republican values. Good or bad I don't know but honestly, I don't feel that way anymore.
Not sure if it's our current government that has changed my views but looking at this current leadership, I really can't vote republican again until they earn my trust.
Re: Are you conservative or liberal in your political beliefs?
I voted in the Texas Republican primary this morning. I couldn't bring myself to cross over to the "dark side" (think Star Wars) and walk around for the next two years with "voted in the Democratic primary" stamped on my voter registration card.
