I would like peoples input on my recently installed nerf bars.
KEEP THEM ON or TAKE THEM OFF
I just made these Wheel 2 Wheel nerf bars and am completely split 50/50 on whether or not I want to keep them on.
WANT TO KEEP THEM ON BECAUSE...................
1-They are one-of-a-kind, custom made
2-Similar to the Harley F150 nerf bars which is the look I was after
3-Free
4-Going to eventually make a custom push bar/bull bar for the front to maybe compliment the nerf bars
5-Did I mention FREE?
6-Save my underside from rock chips during the winter months
WANT TO TAKE THEM OFF BECAUSE....................
1-I liked the "blacked out" look of my truck
2-Just one more thing to keep clean and have to wipe down
3-Mostly the first reason, I liked the "blacked out" look of my truck
I am not going to paint them because they will chip soon and then really look like crap. They are polished Stainless Steel, will never rust.
Look at "My Photos" above this thread and give me your honest answer please.

Looks like you have more reason to keep them vs. taking them off.

You already know what I think. But I will say it agian here. Take 'em off. Keep the clean look. They add too much clutter IMO. The less clutter the better. But either way, you truck is still sweet.

I say keep them but only if you make them black. One sugestion I have is to get them sparyed with the rubber bed liner stuff. Thats what Iam going to do with my push bar when I get one. Most places will do it for a small fee. Iam also going to get a tool box put on my truck sprayed with the stuff I think when I asked they said $70 to have it done. Just ask any place that does the bed spray in bed liners they will spray just about anything. It will make the hole bar non slip and you wont get rock chips and best of all its black.
they really compliment the wheels, I think. Kind of a strange opinion from me, because I am a monochromatic guy. Everything on my truck is going to be white(except wheels).
Although I like the all black look of your truck, your rear bumper is chrome. My suggestion would be to wait until you install the bull bar.....that would "balance" the truck front to rear.
I never thought of having them sprayed like my Line-X bedliner. Hmmmmmm. The funny thing is, we have products that are sprayed like that and I commented on how cool it was, but our sales team said to expensive for the customers to accept. Now you got me thinking.
If I was to do that, I would wait for sure until my push bar get completed and do both at the same time.
Sumo99, I do have more reasons based upon quantity to keep them on, BUT the first reason why to take them off is a BIG one for me! It still about weighs the same, 50/50.
Need more input, suggestions and help, but thanks for those who already gave. I now know why I posted this poll, I knew I would get good honest answers here!

Tough call. The truck looks awesome both ways.
To me, it depends on what look you're after... "street" or "off-road". The IS kit makes me think you're after offroad.
An old hotrodder's trick is to visually impact the appearance of a vehicle with color to "fool" the observer. The most commonly used method is to use a darker color below the midline of the body. This has the visual impact of "lowering" the vehicle. This was done on Pintos and Bobcats, but most effectively on the '84 Vette.
Conversely, the chrome bars make the Tundra appear to be taller than it actually is. The bars are 6" or so below the lower edge of the body, but the appearance is that the bottom of the bars IS the bottom edge of the body, and the body appears to be taller.
If you take them off, I'll give you what you paid for them plus shipping

since you are set on adding a push bar i would say eliminate the rear bumper custom make a bar for the back and add a roll pan.keep it stainless though, and by then you would have eliminated the blacked out look. maybe chrome out the trd grille.classy yet off-roadish. either way one tight looking truck btw you made a good point .they are one of a kind
i really like the whole black out look. i think you should keep the step as is. i like what Rlockyer said about the "illusion" factor and agree with jdc580 when talking about the balance. i think the balance of the clear coners, letters out, rims, step, exhaust tip & rear bumper give the truck this stealth look. plus the red brakes and red in the TRD sticker make for a "need to check that truck out again" feeling.
{picture this} ---> while driving down the road, jimmy looks in his rear view mirror. quickly a confussed look is brought upon his face as he wonders "what the hell is that thinkg following me?". a few moments later he feels the wind brush past his left ear. "what the???" he blurps out as this sleek object aooms by. all jimmy remembers is seeing a "shadow on a cloud" pass by and realizes that it may have been a UFO and he will call Agent Molder at the next rest stop.....
you could also remove the step & badges, get those dark smoke covers for all lights, tint the windshield the lightest possible, coler key the rear bumper, turn tires around. that way everything is black except the exhaust tips, rims and gas tank key hole!
but not matter what...i really dig your ride!

I think they add to the truck's looks, I really like the contrast of chrome and black. I would consider buying them for my truck if you ever did decide to take them off.
Keep them on. As someone mentioned, they compliment your rims. Also with your rear bumper being chrome and if you get a front push bar that is chrome, it will even the look out. Because they are all on the lower part of the vehicle, it looks good. I know you're not asking but I'd switch your tires around to black out and get rid of the white lettering. That is the first thing I noticed in the picture. Very nice truck whatever you decide to do!
