View Poll Results: How much do you pay for XM/Sirius service in your Tundra? One radio only please.
I have been an XM subscriber for several years now. I always paid for a full year of service upfront and then renewed each year. About 4 months ago I purchased a second receiver and paid for a new one year subscription on it. My primary radio still had about 10 months left at the time. Well I wasn't using the new receiver so I called 2 months ago to have it shutoff. They said they transfered the service credit to my primary radio so I was now good until early 2008. No problem.
Then this weekend my radio quit altogether. I called and they tried to get me to pay various amounts without explaining why I had to pay anything. They went all over the board from $28 to $252 and they kept changing their story from "this is an overdue bill" to "we are pre-selling you even more service at a discount". I called them several times but the operators are always Indians which have a hard time understanding and speaking English let alone figuring out a complex billing problem. They put me on hold for a supervisor twice and each time I was disconnected.
So before I keep playing the game with them, I am wondering what the other Tundra owners are paying for your XM / Sirius service. Not for the equipment itself, but for the service. Somehow it seems a crime to pay $150 a year for such lame service when I only listen to 2-3 channels most of the time and even then I only listen about twice a week for short times, or on the occasional long trip.
I realize this is not a Tundra-specific issue but I read on a different forum where some dealers were apparently giving free subscription service or service at a discount so I am curious how each of you are getting service.
Note: I receive many messages about the NAV Speed Pulse Generator so I continue to build them for people on request. If you want one then just PM me via this forum and include your email address.
i pay 26 bucks a month .. but will be dropped to about 20 per month this week because i am taking the sirius off my tacoma i also have a starmate (portable) and a oem unit in my tc so i had a total of 3 units for 26 a month
i wish xm and sirius would hurry up and merge so i can get the xm unit for my tundra .. if the deal doesent go through then i dont know what i am going to do because xm has nothing to offer me so i wont get the service from them i really hate having to use my starmate in my tundra
I purchased the life time membership from Sirius. I paid about $400 bucks up front but that was over three years ago. I no longer make payments because I am a life time member. The only down side is that it is only for the one registered radio.

Yes, but I think you still could add another radion for around 5-6 a month. The lifetime only gives you 3 diff radio's, so dont switch out in a hurry. I had my first one crap out within a month, and sirius told me I was now on radio # 2, with one more to go on the lifetime subscription. I said a few harsh words about how it was their crap radio that broke, and I am still on radio #1 if you want a customer, or others in the future. They saw it my way, but be careful........read the fine print.

they changed the rules on that to up to 4 different radios... because if your radio goes bad your screwed
Sirius changed their "lifetime" policies. You can now switch radios 3 times for a $75 charge each time. I just bought the stiletto portable and I pay $6 or so a month for my wifes subscription since it is my second subscription. My boat came with a years free service and it has been over 2 years now and it still works
I did not know that. Also, did not know that Sirius radios were crap. I have the Starbase and I have not had any problems with it. I think its the best Sirius unit out there. Thanks for the info.
When I got my Sirius in my last truck they had a plan for a 12 month subscription but if you paid up front they only charged you 10 months. It stayed the same every year I renewed.
Well I do know XM's billing department is worthless, and I now have a collection notice for $42.00 and change because the I speak english and the phone help speaks swahili. The first week of january 06 I called in a 1 year (12 months) subscription, and payed with credit card. In nov '06 I recieved notice that my service was near it's end, and that I should re-new now so as not to miss a single enjoyable moment of wonderfull music, talk radio, and sports. I decided not to re-new service due to lack of time to listen. I sold an old truck to a friend and gave the XM receiver to his 16 YO son, telling him it would work till 1st week of 01-07, and if he wished to re-new he just had to let me know and I would call it in and also change the name on the account. The 16 year old boy (who has little cash) declined. In late nov 06 I recieve another letter from XM telling me that they are trying to charge next years bill to my credit card, but can't because the expiration date has changed due to getting a new card (same account number, just new card). In mid december I get another letter stating I should re-new so as not to cause an interuption of service. In mid jan 07 the receiver is still working per notice from the kid, I tell him it should stop soon as prob just a grace period or similar. Late jan 07 I recieve My credit card statement, and I am billed $142+- and I call the credit card folks and contest the charge. The credit card people state that XM states that I OK'd automatic billing, and I stated that I ordered 12 months service, paid for 12 months service and it is my decision as to whether or not I want to continue to get the service. The c/card people agreed and contested the charge for me. Now the 16 YO kid is afraid the FBI is going to kick his door open in the middle of the night and drag him away for theft of services so I got the receiver back sometime in feb. It still works even with My request to terminate services It is a portable handheld unit, so I check it once a week and it is today still working. Last week I got a bill via USPO for the period from early jan to april '07 for $42 and 2 days ago I get a collection notice from an independent agency for the $42. What makes a company think they have such a great product, that they think I just have to have it? I neither verbally agreed or signed any papers stating I wanted a lifetime subcription, I paid in advance for 12 mos service and these half-assed english speaking people can't get it through their thick heads. As of 6:05 PM ESDT, the reciever still works. Anyone else have a pain in the *ss billing problem with these people?

I have sirius radio and it is better than xm. I used to have xm. Howard Stern is cool. Not just his show but the other shows on his two channels too.
I pay 7.95 or so a month. Serius will give you free radio equipment for up to four units. six month subscription required with each. I have five radios. I used this deal for christmas presents. What a deal!
So, if a few people pool together, you can all get sirius for the cost of one radio purchase. i notice the antennae goes bad after about a year sometimes. So, send the unit in before the warrnaty expires and they will send another with no hassle in a couple days.

I don't think sirius does the lifetime deal anymore. too bad.
