Here is a good question for everyone

Royal Purple vs Amsoil

They are both good companies but which one do you think is better?

It's going to boil down to preference and opinion. I of course chose Amsoil because I've used it.

The same is going to go for anyone that's used Royal Purple. Don't expect much from the polls besides opinions.

They are both great. Just see what you can get your hands on, and for cheaper. That's why many people use Mobil 1. Great product, it's readily available, and it doesn't cost as much.

Good luck deciding. Oh, and buy in bulk! It's cheaper.

I like the generic recycled crap wallyworld sells in 2 gallon containers for $3.99. It'll get me 10,000 miles between changes. Sometimes I have to strain out the metal particles, but what do you want for $3.99?

I know at work we use mobil 1 in the jet engines and thats good enough for my truck. To be honest if you change your oil in less than 6k it is not the oil you have to worry about it is the dirt. Many people use K N filters or knocks of that, which dont do a good job of filtering. I use the stock toyota filter they are the best at keeping the dirt out of your engine which is the real killer . Over on the TTORA site there is a guy named gadget he has done lots of dyno and lab tests very interesting reading.

Amsoil hands down. Royal Purple is a Mobil 1 wannabe. Mobil 1 is a much better value. Amsoil is the premium, but you pay for it.

I'm 65 and Amsoil is made 25 mi from my home, I have used it since it first came in the market. Since using it I never have had an engine problem
do to oil. That covers many years.
I now use AMSOIL 2000. . Nothing else.
New CrewMax Limited will be in next week.

I few years ago (1998), I used Amsoil regularly and would get 15,000 to 25,000 miles out of the oil and I believe 7,000 to 10,000 out of the filter. I did what ever the test results told me to do and never had a problem with my vehicles. One was a heavy duty tow truck towing a 12,000 lbs RV. When my current vehicles reach over 10,000 miles I will begin to use it regularly with testing.

A long time ago (1998) I used that purple stuff I picked up from my local Napa store and it made my engine make some awful noise that really scared me. They do stand behind their product though as they refunded every penny of my money after I drained it out the next day.

Amsoil rules up here. I use dinosaur sauce. I don't put on that many miles. Used to have an oil around here called Royal Triton, that was purple. It was dino too.

I use Amsoil in my race car and have never had a problem I get mine from Salvo Auto Parts here locally I've found they have the best prices(around $5.00-$5.50/qt) and I have a 7 qt. pan that can get pricey if you don't shop around

Thats just too much money for oil, I would pick Amsoil no reason I hate purple. I use German castrol 0w-30, and Pennzoil platinum only when on sale.

I've met Gadget. He is a co-owner of Underdog Racing. He attended a meet I organized last year, and he showed up with his Supercharged X-Runner (see my pics). The man's knowledge of Toyota performance is amazing. I'd pay serious attention to what he has to offer.
