Pricing and DealersDiscussions that are specific to vehicle pricing, preferred dealer pricing, current incentives, rebates, and experiences.
This is a discussion thread titled "admin fee a bogus charge for SET region", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
I am ready to pull the trigger but they told me about this FEE .here is the definition=
Admin - the Administrative Fee is a charge paid by the Dealer to Southeast Toyota, the regional distributor, and is used for the regional dealer support programs.
They told me $750.00
The only fees you have to pay are destination charges and title. All other fees they will try to sneak in but you don't have to pay them because that's what they're paid to do.
Edit: Some states will charge registration which includes the title, registration and plates. Here's a link from edmunds
I would call another dealer and ask them if they have the same fee. I would be hesitant to pay any fee that wasn't listed on the invoice of the vehicle. As the edmunds link said, the only additional fee that they feel you should pay in addition to destination, title and registration fees is the dealer advertising fee. The "TDA" should be listed on the invoice of the vehicle.

Georgia, North & South Carolina, Florida and Alabama are all part of Toyota's Southeast Region--a privately owned "distributorship." As such, certain fees and mandatory add-ons appear on Southeast Region invoices that do not appear on factory invoices in other regions.
This is an actual cost........a BS cost......but still a legitimate cost to the buyer and the dealer alike. It is itemized on an actual invoice and is automatically included on MSRP.

I strive to learn something new every day and I just did. If it is on the window sticker and invoice, then it is legit. Still bull but legit bull. I was thinking that he was saying that it was just the dealership that charges it. But if that is the way they get down in the dirty south, then it is a real fee

"Gulf States Toyota"...right? If so, they haven't changed much from when the 1st gens came out, same ol' same ol'. Good luck with it. Some interesting (but old) threads around here regarding that network.
Don't be afraid to go out of state, ie out of network, if the price is right. $750 is enough for a one-way ticket and gas money for a vacation and pick-up of your new truck from somewhere else.

The weather is nice in California if someone wants to take me to lunch and pick up their new tundra without an admin fee, lmao
