Default Not happy with dealership

Toyota dealerships that is. Today was my first and second to last visit.I usually do oil changes myself with mobil 1 synthetic. I took it to the dealership today to get them to change it since my foot is broken. Anyways i pull up to the service line and am greeted by a guy (after waiting 5 min) who tells me he will go get some paperwork for me and then do the oil change. 10 minutes later someone asks me why im sitting there and I tell him im waiting on another employee... he tells me he will take the info. When i tell him synthetic he asks me why i want synthetic. I tell him because i like to wait every 5000 miles between oil changes. He tells me that conventional oil will last just as long and isnt as good. I tell him i know 5000 is the recocmended interval but i dont like to wait that long, because it goes out of spec far before you change it. I ask him why synthetic isnt as good and he tells me that it sludges up your engine BULL ****ING **** The "paperwork" consisted of me signing my name on an electric clipboard. He then asks me how i broke my foot and i tell him motocross... he then lectures me about how dangerous it is and how his nephew tore his acl and broke his collarbone. He takes my truck and tells me to wait in the waiting room and it shouldnt be long. an hour later the oil is finally changed, with their standard synthetic oil, mobil 1. The invoice said it was 8.16 a quart I also got charged like 4 for a oil filter and 1.50 for the gasket, and around 10 for labor! A 68 dollar oil change! I usually buy the 5 gallon jugs of mobil 1 synthetic at walmart for 19.99 and a oil filter/gasket for under 3 dollars. Anyways i go out to my truck and realize the tires arent rotated. it took another 50 minutes to rotate the tires. While i was waiting a middle eastern employee asks me if he can have the crutches in teh back of my truck since im not using them anymore and that he cant find tall crutches for his brother that broke his leg (im 5' 11".... not tall). I tell him no. The reason its my second to last visit is they gave me a voucher for a free oil change and tire rotation.

i hate my dealer too, they stick you with whatever they can to make that extra $$ instead of taking care of you which is the main point.

don't know about there, but here at my dealership, they guarantee the LOF to be in in 29 mins, 59 mins for LOF rotate, or less from THE TIME THEY WRITE YOU UP. so what does that mean? you could be sitting in the drive for 1 hour and still not being written up yet. time starts clicking once you sign your name.

as for the oil situation, my dealer charge 9 bucks a quart for mobil 1 synthetic. my advice, buy you own stuff and bring it in if you can't do it yourself and want synthetic oil.

but there is no excuse for taking that long for an LOF and rotate. Not to mention all the lecture that you got.

Well, we have three local Toyota dealerships in the metro area... the closest one (not the one I regularly use) the first time tried to hoo-doo me on a 96' T100 I was interested in... then when I take my Tundra there to get the oil changed (after I did not buy the T100), I was pretty upset. Some arrogant acting young kid came out and got into my truck and took it into the shop. He was just sneering as the cars came into the entry area. Anyway he took my truck into part of the service area where I cannot see. I stay outside, looking at the "new" cars on that side of the dealership... that is also the area where they park the cars after service. They cars were whipping in and out of there. There was a big speedbump that some dude kept going over even in NEW cars like 20-25 mph. Well, I am on the opposite side of a Sienna minivan with tinted windows and I see my truck coming out, but this kid cannot see me. I see him "goose" my truck to the point where i see the front end raise up.... then he parks it on a slant and instead of letting the door close gently, he lets it slam shut. Then, I get home and see oil splattered all over the underside of my splash pan, which still has a little residue there. Then to top it off, he puts the "next service" sticker directly in front of where the driver sets and not completely to the top of the windshield. I think they charged me something like $40.00. No, I was not happy and I think I even ranted about it over here after that.

The other dealer (about 25 miles away) would not even return my call with a price quote when I was interested in a 07' Camry... so that finished me off with them. So, I have been using the other dealer (22 miles away), which is actually where the POs had the truck serviced before. They are pretty nice, but the waits are very long. I had to wait 90 minutes one time just to have them check the fluid in my differential and lube the driveshafts. Last time I had it in just to have my tranny checked out, because I have a harsher 203 shift under moderate acceleration. Luckily all checked out fine and they only charged $30.00, but that was also a 90 minute wait.

Prices different too. The closest one wanted $65. labor to change my spark plugs... the other wanted $180. labor.

They're providing a service to you. They can't do it for free. They also can't compare to walmart's prices. You should know it's going to cost more to bring it there then to have yourself do it.

They're in the business to make money, not give you free oil changes.

i payed for labor too. If theyre going to charge for labor they shouldnt double what you pay for oil. You think its professional to tell me synthetic oil will sludge my engine, lecture me about dirtbikes, and ask if u can have my crutches?

Yeah, I think that is highway robbery... its not like it was that big of a job to them..

Thats like my local dealers wanting to charge $65. and $180. to change my spark plugs and that was labor only! $65. was bad enough, but $180. just to change plugs? Probably would not take a tech 10-20 minutes to do with the proper tools.
