ok, I have read of these post but what exactly were you trying to get done? I am by far a salesman and dont know much about service or mechanics so forgive me for being naive. What did you do that made it that anything had to be changed?

Here's a link with the pdf for the "customizing" or as Lexus calls it the personalization options.
The difference between Toyota way and the Lexus way, is that Lexus dealers will actually schedule an inspection appt. about one month after you buy your vehicle, to do a once over inspection and set personalization parameters, or sooner if you request it. The sales staff and the service staff let you know of this from the beginning. With Toyota dealers unfortunately, you have to dig through your owner's manual, read about it on the forums or find out through unofficial channels and then unfortunately in my case, have to fight tooth and nail to have these adjustments performed.
These are minor convenience issues that can be set to your preference. For example, the default setting on the Tundra's has the doors unlock automatically when you put the gear shifter into park. Well for me, I don't like that, so I opt to have the doors remain locked until I chose to unlock them.
Another example is if you leave your headlight in the ON or Auto position, close all doors and lock the vehicle the default setting is to keep the headlights on for 30 seconds. The options are: turn off immediately, 30s delay, 60 sec and 90 sec. So you have 4 choices for the duration. For me, I would like the lights to turn off immediately, when the vehicle is locked. If it is my girlfriend, she may feel safer if the headlights remained on for 90 second and if this was her Tundra, she may opt to have that setting changed to 90 secs.
This is all real basic functions that can be personalized. It's not like we are asking the Toyota Service dept to do a 30K service for free or to perform a 4 wheel alignment after someone hops a curb and throws the alignment off. Those are obviously not covered under the basic warranty. (Although, most good dealers will provide you with some consideration if your alignment goes out in the first 12 months or 12K miles.)
I don't think I am asking much on this issue. I don't expect the type of service I receive at Lexus as I do at the Toyota dealer, even though they are the same company. However, I will say I did receive much better service at a Mazda and Subaru dealerships prior, and I did not buy neither one of of those vehicles at the servicing dealer. Hence, why this dealer will not receive anymore of my business.

very interesting, in over 12 years with Toyota, nobody has ever mentioned that and I sell over 350 vehicles a year. I knew you could change things but no one has ever asked me too.

Re: Wow, Just had a really horrible experience at Power Toyota Irvine Service Dept
So after several phone calls to the customer service dept in Torrance and the dealers' customer service rep. this miserable dealer finally decided to "goodwill" this adjustment. What a bunch of hacks. Then they have the nerve to say please give us a positive review on the customer service survey and how customer service is their top priority. Really? Should of thought about that earlier before you make your customers jump through so many hoops and make 3 visits to the dealer to get an adjustment that takes at most 5 minutes. I will make sure to NOT give you a positive review. I will tell anyone in so. cal. stay away from Power Toyota Irvine for any of your servicing needs. I think I would get better customer service taking my Toyota to a Nissan dealer.
