I can't wait for the press release from Toyota, saying just what exactly the 2008 Tundrfa USA immobilzer doesn't do that the Canadian version does.

Maybe its something legit like hardware, or maybe something like a simple programing difference in the immoblizer logic, or maybe nothing at all.

Its been a few weeks now since these vehicles have been banned, so if there was a major vehicle immobilzer difference, why haven't we heard about it yet???

All we can do is speculate about conspiracy theory’s, and manufacturer collusion.

I have done my part to help Canadians get a better deal on their Vehicle. I did it for unselfess reasons.I bought 2 vehicles in the US this year Now average Canadians can enjoy the lower prices. . The money I saved went to my favorite charity (Guess who). The powers that be cant stand middle class wage earners take advantage of the money market in this way. Toyota is not the only ones levering our Canadian system. I am happy I got in and out with the goods. P.S. I have a contact in US that has sold 2008 models to Canadian Toyota dealers, Yes restricted ones. I can prove it but do I want the hassle?

Very suprised not to see Large Toyota Canada rebates to compinsate for the Dollar. I'm pretty sure that Toyota USA actually has larger rebates than Canada, if you can believe that!!!

90% of Canadian manufacturers have rolled out cash rebates already. Looks like Toyota Canada is getting greedy?

Toyota has to come back to reality and put forth some effort to address the disparity between US and Can prices....Even Honda/Acura has low interest rate financing on the 08 (.9% I believe)...Toyota on the other hand has 5.9%....Thanks Toyota, you have really put yourself out for Canadians.......

I am planning on picking up an 08 prior to christmas. Not sure if it will be a Toyota or not....depends on whether they make an effort to address the US and Canadian price differential......not really sure I want to reward Toyota given their behavior of late.....maybe they do not care about little old me but hopefully enough of us will speak with our wallets and Toyota will be forced to react......here is an interesting read....

Do new car incentives add up?

I found this to be a good read, it definitly sounds like the author is personally pissed off.

You can bet Toyota is reading these threads, after all this is the biggest Tundra site, and Toyota is hoping for big things from the Tundra.

With that said, my Message to Toyota is:

Toyota USA: Great job, looks like your really trying to be competitive for your customers. Even with the weak US dollar offering nice rebates.

Toyota Canada: Poor Job, you are by far the most arrogant and cocky auto manufacturer in Canada, and have done nothing to be competitive for your customers.

I got 3.9% financing for 36 months on my 07 Tundra.

Apparently the current incentives expire at the end of November...It will be interesting to see what Toyota comes out with effective December 1. All the other manufacturers seem to be making more of an effort than toyota.....why is that? its not like the tundra has had a flawless launch....I am hoping to pick one up prior to Christmas, I guess I will know more in a week when the new incentives are announced......

What do you think the current Toyota Canada Rebates would be, if all 2008 models were addmissable. Right now there is NO rebate on 2008 Tundra (I guess in Toyota Canada's mind there is no pricing problem), but if this whole immobilzer thing never happend, I bet the current Canadain 2008 Tundra rebates would be $6k to $8k.

Toyota Canada must be trying to clear out 2007 inventory before matching every other manufacturer with rebates??

I agree with you low c1500. I would think once the 07 are out then the promotion should be on the 08.....of course even now the promos on the 07 are not wonderful, 3.9% and 2000 cash back (of course the 08 are listing for around 1800 less than the 07) so the cash back is really a must on the part of toyota....

Toyota looks terrible given their current slate of incentives as compared with the competition like Honda who offers .9% on all the 2008...wake up toyota! I am hoping but not expecting too much when the new incentives are announce for December. If there is no promos on the 2008 I guess I will just have to forgo the purchase.....I just cannot justify paying 10,000 more than our friends south of the border.....

I found the standard regarding the immbolizers:

Standard 114

Took me a bit of searching but I found it finally and present the link here for all to pursue.
