This is a discussion thread titled "2008 Tundra is inadmissible to Canada", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
Page 3 of that PDF you linked to pretty much tells it. Please note carefully on that page, no where does it specify an electronic radio code authentication system for chip-in-key immbolizers.
Sure hope so, I've found some nice 07 USA Tundras, but I'd rather have a broker bring a 2008 to my doorstep.

The '08 sitting in my driveway is my first Toyota truck. I would have bought a Tundra in '04 but it only pulled 7000 lbs and my travel trailer is 7106 lbs empty. I had to settle for a '04 GMC Sierra. This Tundra will pull it along quite nicely.
I have my Form 1 faxed to RIV awaiting for them to send Form 2, which I don't expect they will do until the proposed amendments are in place. I don't mind the wait.
It was sure great driving it home from South Carolina.
Well it looks like Toyota Canada has again failed to make any attempts whatsoever to address the price discrepancy....The december incentives show no rebates for the 2008 models and a high 5.9% financing.....big surprise...well here is one sale you will not get toyota canada.....I hope others choose to do the same and wait to import from the US......

Now you will be able to get exactly the model you want.

yup, would love that radiant red now......just gotta find a dealer now......I have a feeling that it will be tough if Toyota is really cracking down on the exporting.......
Hopefully RIV has realized that they are trying to regulate something that they know nothing about (immobilizers), and that they should just stick to stuff they know like DRL's and Bumpers.
Also what about the poor bastard that gets a job, and moves from USA to Canada, he drives a 2008 Tundra and his wife drives a 2008 GM car, are they supposed to park therre vehicles and ride the bus everywhere?
Just noticed, not only did toyota canada NOT come out with any incentives on the 08 Tundra for december but they RAISED THE PRICE ON AN OPTION. The rear dvd used to cost $1599 as an option but now is $1986. An increase of almost 25%. unreal....how low can you go toyota? There may be other increases but the DVD player is the only I checked......appalling...
The Government has proposed legislation that allows 2008 vehicles into Canada if they have an engine immobilizer factory installed, or if not, they can have a Canadian approved aftermarket one installed. My '08 Tundra already had the immobilizer factory installed so I don't have to modify in any way.

Can't wait for Dec 15, shortly after I will drive my new 2008 Tundra (imported from the USA) over to the local Toyota dealer and do a large burn-out smoke show in front of there main doors! Well maybe not, but I will enjoy my new imported truck.
Boycott Toyota Canada!!!!!
