I think that I'll probably have broker buy it new, and title it, then transfer to me (the truck shouldn't even have to leave the lot), then I'll pick it up new and drive it home across the border.

How long did it take for them to title and transfer to your name?
Did you have to pay state tax?
Title and transfer were done before I got there. South Carolina has a "property tax" on vehicles rather than a sales tax. The property tax is pro-rated and in my case was $300.00. Not all states place a property tax on vehicles, some have sales tax for which you would probably get nailed for the full amount.

If I remember correctly, Montana does not have a sales tax...and is close by....I agree with low c1500....do not buy from toyota canada until the price issue is addressed.....while the dealer does not set msrp, it is incumbent on them to fight on our (and their) behalf to have the price lowered. While I feel for the employees of the local dealership and would be willing to pay somewhat more to support our economy, 15-20% is not acceptable....
Where did you get yout Tundra? I'm looking but not sure where I can buy from in the US?
Just about any broker can buy from any dealer.

Toyota Canada sales down 7.9% for November......YES!!!!
Hopefully December will be worse for the only Manufacturer in Canada to NOT offer rebates due to the strong Canadian dollar.
Sidde note: The Canadian government is cutting Interest rates to attemp to weaken the Loonie compared to the GreenBack.

I'm glad my deal is done. It was predicted a while back that the Canadian dollar would be back to $.85 by spring.
Stuball
Yeah, I'm not too worried, even at a .95 cent dollar compared to a $1.05 my $40k US tundra will cost me $4k more, so instead of saving $17k, I'll save $13k.
Out of the 3 top Canadian banks, 2 predict a $1.08 by end of 2008, and one predicts a loss to $.93 cents.

Heard on the news two days ago that the Candian regs regarding immobolizers has been relaxed to allow more versions to be accepted. Also vehicle without DRLs can be admitted into Canada as well. However, once in Canada any deficiencies will need to be fixed prior to passing the Federal inspection. I would check with the broker again or the Canadian Border Services Agency.

We should know Dec 15th, what the new rules will be.
