it gets even better for december....the option for the rear entertainment system went up 25% to $1986.....so, way to go toyota, now you are increasing prices just as they are about to start letting US vehicles back into the country......toyota canada should really feel shame......

The rear entertainment center is a great deal cheaper in the U.S. (Check Sparks TRD online) and as the Tundra is prewired for the entertainment center, this can be done by the owner quite easily.
This topic seemed appropriate again given Toyota Canada's big advertising push saying they have reacted to the strength in the Canadian dollar and lowered prices......ya right, $1000 gas card and slightly lower financing rates....puhlease.....
Hopefully, shoppers are importing vehicles vehicles and avoiding the local dealerships....though not the fault at the local level, they must pressure head offices to price their product fairly.
On a related note, just got the sticker from RIV, the importation process is complete....requires some effort but the savings are worthwhile.....

Way to go! It took me a little longer waiting for my RIV sticker than it did for yours.
My local dealership doesn't know about my southern purchase either. Don't know how to break the news.

I have not been to a local dealer yet either. If they are not helpful or reluctant to service the vehicle then I will just try another in the city (and will send a letter to toyota canada advising them about the dealer who refuses warranty work)...
I suspect some dealers will balk at the imported vehicles but most will understand the service is what pays the bills, not the one-time new vehicle sale....

That's right. The dealerships make their lion share from the service department.
I bought a floor jack and some jack stands last week. I'm thinking of starting to do my own oil changes (and keeping all oil & filter receipts) so the local dealer doesn't find out. I suppose that novelty will wear off after six months.

I suspect the novelty will wear off after the first change! It sounds like replacing the oil filter is a pain on our trucks.....
On another front, did you ever install the rear dvd system or did your dealer do a port install? I remember we had some conversations about it waayy back when but I could not remember if you put one in or not.....

You're probably right about the novelty of the "oil change" wearing off. My wife would certainly side with you on that one.
I didn't install, or have installed, a rear DVD system. Don't have any kids left at home to enjoy it. If I remember correctly I did mention that I had downloaded the install instructions from Sparks TRD online store, and after looking through them, I had thought the headrest mounted DVD players were by far the easiest to install rather than cutting up the roof liner for the overhead DVD player.
If there is more than one kid involved then I think the headrest DVD is the way to go.

Just arrived back to Alberta with the new 2008 Tundra from South Carolina, everything went very smooth, as far as the sale, driving home, and border crossing.
Thanks to those who shared valuable info that assisted in my purchase.

Congrats! Glad to see you made it home safely.
Don't you think the white Tundra will look a bit out of place next to all those black vehicles of yours. Should have brought the dealer's Tundra home with you to match everything up.

Yes, i was actually very tempted to get a Black crewmax with red-rock, too hard to keep clean as a work truck though.

Just Got an Toyota Certified 07 DC LTD 5.7 4x4 with $3500.00 in accessories with 5000 miles on it in southern USA and saved 17k opposed to buying a same new one in canada. A bit of a hassle with the paperwork but not 17k's worth.

Congrats!! That is a super deal! I also think the extra paperwork is worth it when it comes to saving that much money.
