Default Re: Reasonable dealer profit on Used Truck

ok, i have been busy lately and havent chimed in. The only thing I will add to this is that dealers have to make money somewhere and the used car dept is normally where it is gong to happen. It is simple as that. We have to sell a certain amount of certified cars to keep Toyota happy and we pay over wholesale for them at the auctions so we basically have no margin in those and every aged unit on our lot is an auction car that will most likely will lose money to sell. So anything other than that, we are going to hold margins on, out of necessity . Some cars I can discount 2k and still make a nice profit. Others I can discount at all without losing money so in the used car market, it is way harder to gauge what you should be paying
