Re: Who thinks they got the best deal on there Tundra?? Stop in.
I got my 07 crewmax Nav blue SR5 lease for 300 per month that gets written off on taxes (work truck). I too felt like it was a steal and I have the option of buy or just trade up after a few years. Now watch someone got one leased for 200-250.
Re: Who thinks they got the best deal on there Tundra?? Stop in.
hello all, this happens to be my first post - so you can take what i've got to say with a grain of salt if you like. I have been "lurking" on this forum for quite some time trying to read everything I can and get all the information my little brain could hold. I haven't posted anything yet because I haven't had anything valuable to say (plus, there is sooo much great information on this site - it takes FOREVER to read/search all the posts before you post a question and look like a dumba$$). Hopefully, I won't be perceived as one of those ;-) I realize that my single post cannot make up for the vast amount of knowledge that I have gleaned from this site, but i definitely want to contribute my little piece! I also promise to post my pics and enter my second official post in the correct forum WELCOME TO TUNDRASOLUTIONS...
At any rate, i finally pulled the trigger. I am picking up my '08 Naut. Bl. CM LTD 4WD with xtra mile package "b", bed liner, trd pkg, vehicle shield pkg, daytime running lights, permavin/glass etching, TRD dual exhaust, TRD CAI, TRD, TRD sway bar, TRD sport pedals, TRD shift knob & TRD oil cap, on Friday. I have been more anal about buying this vehicle than any other vehicle in my life. Not sure why yet (old age?), but I am definitely excited about this truck.
With all that being said, i am getting my truck for $42,844 drive out (yes, that includes TT&L). All of this has been determined/approved before ever stepping foot on the lot to pick up my truck. I am very happy with the price, and as has been said several times before - this is what counts. But please, read on...
I wanted to add my two cents worth (trying to be helpful) - as many folks in here have stated prices without many details to support them. Some folks have stated the pricing without the rest of us knowing if its "drive out" or +TT&L or even what specific options came with the truck. Some just say "loaded". Well unfortunately "loaded" means different things to different people, and unless explicitly stated - is difficult for others to do a true comparison.
In addition to the wide variation of peoples responses and details (or lack thereof) - you also have to consider the wide variety of variables outside of the actual truck itself. January & February are notoriously the slowest months for almost ALL auto manufacturers. Very few people in this thread have posted WHEN they bought their truck, this definitely matters. Also, inventory in general will affect sales - if a truck in a particular dealership has been on the lot for a longer period of time than others it is sharing concrete with - it can be discounted more than the truck that just came off the hotshot truck the day before, this definitely matters. If you haven't used the inventory feature of Toyota website - you can look at inventory for a specific dealership. Find a couple trucks your interested in and WRITE DOWN the VIN numbers, then watch them.
ALL dealerships have quotas and sales forecasts - and units sold for a particular month at a particular dealership has EVERYTHING to do with the "great deal" you can find. Sometimes a simple call to the dealership or an "off the cuff" conversation with a salesperson outside of their working environment can reveal where they are in terms of sales for the month. Of course, this brings up another variable in the process of buying a vehicle...
How fast do you need the vehicle? If you need a truck quick - you don't have the luxury to take weeks or months to find out these things. In these cases, depending on the time of the month/year - it is a crap shoot as to how good of a deal you can get. And obviously, the end of any month is usually better than buying at the first of the month. Some get lucky, some don't. If you know you are going to need a new truck next year, then you have a LOT of leverage (assuming you want to do the research). If you have the time, you can pick your truck(s) via the inventory search, watch your VIN numbers, and see how long they are on the lot. If you have been looking for many months like I have, you will see your favorite truck disappear and reappear more than once in the cycle of a particular dealership.
Knowing the Toyota way of doing business in your region can also be a factor when negotiating your price. Especially if you live in the "Gulf States" area like I do. There is a whole 'nother way of doing business here in the South at least in terms of how dealerships interact with the Gulf States (distributorship) contracts in place. For example, Gulf States Toyota dealerships all have additional charges and/or holdbacks from the factory when compared to other dealerships in the US.
Buying your truck from a particular person within the dealership can also make a difference. If you are a member of a credit union or know someone who can refer you to a FLEET salesman - you can often get a decent deal with less haggle than just walking straight into a dealership and asking for a salesman. And if you have a close friend or family member who actually works for Toyota, you might be able to get a referral - which can give you an opportunity to get a no haggle invoice price.
This post is already WAAYYYY too long, but the bottom line is there are many of you reading this who are saying this information is nothing new - but i would bet that there are also quite a few people "lurking" like I did who have never bought a Toyota or who have never bought a new vehicle that could benefit from this. I definitely have a TON of supporting information, and can help with some specifics if you are in the Gulf States area (pricing, options, fees, holdbacks, etc.) Please PM me if you have further questions.
I definitely didn't get "the best deal" in this thread, but IMHO being educated about how the process works is half the battle - and as long as I feel that i got "a good deal" THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS.
Re: Who thinks they got the best deal on there Tundra?? Stop in.
Sounds like a lot of guys have found some great deals too. Im just happy that for 25k (20k for truck and 5k for aftermarket accesories soon to come) i will have a truck that is my own and the way i like it.
Re: Who thinks they got the best deal on there Tundra?? Stop in.
I called a dealer south of the border (I'm in Canada) and just asked what I'd pay for a truck with the following specs: DC Limited 5.7 4WD Nav, 440W JBL Bluetooth, Sonar, Stainless Steel running boards, TRD pkg. and DRL, block heater, cold weather package, corrosion protection package and Toyota hood protector. I knew what the MSRP was because you can "Build your Own"
Price for a similar truck in Thunder Bay: $54,000.00 Sales Tax was 14% (This was last October). Total price would have been about $62,000.
List in Minnesota was $42,000.00. Prior to any attempt at negotiation, I was given bottom line price: $37,000. At that time, it was about $36,000 CDN (varies with exchange rate). With all taxes, etc, I paid close to 41,000 CDN, for a savings of about $20,000!!!!!!!
I love this truck, it drives great, and it's beautiful to look at. I've gotten used to the fact that the speedometer reads MILES.

Details:
07 Blue Streak sport package Double Cab SR5 Tundra.
SR5 package, with alloy 18 in addition. 4k miles when i bought it
Paid $19800 .
I think i did pretty good . Lets here some stories guys/girls, interested to hear of some other great scores.
I see ads(not just on *one* truck) for 08 tundra 4x4 dc sr5 4.7's for 21,500.00. Is yours a 5.7, I hope so(havent read the entire thread, just your initial post). I'm not sure I like the deal even if it is a 5.7. Rebate plus invoice on the same 08 truck, plus maybe a little better since you work for toyota, couldnt have put you much above the price you paid for the used 07. I hope I am wrong, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, just hope you researched.
Anyway, my deal when I purchased my 07 crewmax was 10% off MSRP, with no factory rebate. I know others, who purchased much later, who have gotten much better deals in % off MSRP. I purchased my truck before it showed on the lot, and before any trucks were being shipped or around yet. This is when they were first released(i got it on 3/28/07, crew max), no one else around had one for months(good times). So, at the time it was a great deal in my opinion, but not compared to what people paid months later. SO it is not just price paid, but when it was paid in my opinion.
My 08 4runner I just picked up I was able to get 15% off MSRP with no factory rebate. At the time it was 500.00 rebate or low finance, and I took the lower rate. 15% off sticker with zero rebate is good in my book. Yes, I know it's not a tundra, just a comparison.
Good luck with your new ride.

Re: Who thinks they got the best deal on there Tundra?? Stop in.
I bought a 2008 5,7 Nautical Blue SR5 DC 4x4 with TRD OFF Road, brushed stainless steel running boards, underseat storage, tow mirrors, deck rail system with cleats for $32685-$3000 rebate=$29682-$4300 for my trade +$3k for tax and licensing + $1200 for 6 year 100,000 platinum warranty for a rough total of $29,500 out the door.
The truck was a custom order Dianne at Manhattan Beach Toyota. I got exactly what I wanted within 5-6 weeks of the order. It may not be the best deal, but I thought it was good price for a special order.

2008 Crewmax 5.7L 4X4 SR5 with the JBL audio, off road package, running lights, TRD exhaust, tube steps and bedliner ( EJ, OF, RL, 37, R3, LU). Sticker was $39,814.00. Invoice: $35,884.00. True dealer cost including holdback: $34,675.00. Paid: $35,165.00. $700 below invoice, I can live with that. Forgot to mention the $675 for LoJack included in the price, so even better!
