This is a discussion thread titled "Hawaii prices are killing me!", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
Been a lurker here for a long time but finally decided to join so I could post. I've been looking at possibly buying a 2008 Tundra 4x4 Crewmax SR5 with the 5.7L engine. My local dealers (most are controlled by one parent company) have a sale which is $34995 for a 4x4 Crewmax with the 4.7L and not much else! They have a ad for a 08' Doublecab 4x4 with the 5.7L and SR5 for $38995! I've called two dealers and the parent company, and they all quoted me a starting price of around $40000 for what I want! Give or take a few hundred depending on options. Anyone from Hawaii buy locally and get even a fair price? I think I will be contacting some dealers on the west coast and just paying the $1000 or so for shipping. I see quite a few Tundra's driving around, just means a whole lot of people are getting ripped off!

Buy your truck outside of the Gulf States Toyota monopoly if you don't want to compromise.
Where I live, 87 is about 3.70, 89 is about 3.80 and 92 octane is 3.90 give or take a few pennies. Diesel is a little over 4 dollars. The thing that sucks is that two of my other cars are hotrods (26' Ford Tall T coupe and 65' Nova SS) both take the 92.

Thanks for the offer, but I've gotten quotes from Cory and Dianne already. Just waiting for my Credit Union to let me know what to do next. A friend who works there told me the loans take a little longer nowadays because of all the repo's and stuff. About half of the rear parking lot at the Credit Union is filled with repo's! The price of gas here isn't helping any either, Premium is already over $4.00!
