This is a discussion thread titled "Bad Experience with dealer....Kinda long", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
First off, let me say that I love my 05 Tundra and I take very good care of it. I pay particular attention to the body to see if I have any door dings, rock chips, etc. I bought my truck used with absolutely no body damage, and with an extended warranty for the exact reason following. I have since put less than 5000 miles on it and the check engine light comes on. I call the dealer and schedule an appointment. They replace the O2 sensor and when I go to pick it up it has 2 big dents in the hood, a dent in the drivers side front panel, a ding in the middle of the hood and a ripple at the passengers side front door handle. Of course, I tell them about it and they dont deny it and offer to fix it. OK, I am not satisfied but it will have to do. In the meantime my check engine light comes on. Well while fixing the dents, they replace the computer in the truck. I go to pick it up and there is still a dent in the front of the hood and the ripples in the handle so I talk to the manager. He tells me that they did me a favor in fixing the dents that they fixed. That didnt set real well, so I proceeded to tell them what I thought about the deal(in a civil tone, I never raised my voice), as I thought that there is probably nothing that I can do about it anyway. Well comes today. I am riding down the road and my check engine light comes back on, I called and told them I would be dropping it off(they are the only dealer within reasonable distance) This is the third time it has been scheduled for service. My question is:
Is there anything, as far as recalls, or anything, on my 05 Tundra that I may not know about and some of you guys do on this check engine warning. And does anyone have any friendly advice for me on this issue. Thanks a million
Oh,, the manager told me that he did me another favor by replacing the 02 sensor. I told him that the person in his building that sold me the extended warranty used the 02 sensor and the computer as the main selling points of the warranty. He said the O2 sensor wasnt covered!?????
I am at wits end and just want my truck fixed without it looking like it has been in an accident. Thanks for listening to my rambling..............
If I was you just do a lemon law on the truck and get a new one and go to another dealer sense they aren't that thankful for their customer's. also let them know you would not recommend this dealer to any one and a refund for the extended warranty.

If you are still under warranty, which it sounds like you are, 3 attempts to repair the same thing without success may trigger a lemon law (In California). Question is, who is your extended warranty through? Toyota or a third party? If it's Toyota, call them. The number to call is in the back of your owner's manual. You have to call them before you can start any lemon law proceedings anyway. Dealerships don't like calls from Corporate. If they don't help you get it fixed, call a lemon law attorney in your state.

I'm pretty sure that lemon law relief usually only applies to new vehicle purchases. This guy bought his used.
Thanks for the help everyone. I spoke with the GM of the dealership today and he assured me that everything was going to be fixed. I am at least relieved for now, we will see what happens. I am sorry I posted this was posted on the wrong forum.
they are over it i am sure, at least you learned who to talk to at Dealership when ya have an issue=BRAVO. Congrats on fixing your own problem WOOPIGSOOIE!
