This is a discussion thread titled "Extended Warranty...yay or nay?", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
The term you listed means its an aftermarket warranty. In general, aftermarket warranties are not worth it. There may be exceptions, but I prefer to stick with the genuine factory Platinum warranties.
I would agree. These are insurance policies for the most part. If you buy one over the net from a company out of state you may have problems getting them to pay for repairs. Most insurance is regulated state to state and the Insurance Dept. in your state can't help you much if the company you are dealing with is not licensed in your state.
I bought the Toyota warranty, wouldn't do it again. IMO it's a waste because my Tundra hasn't broken down at all knock on wood.

Would you still buy car insurance, even if you haven't been in an accident? I really believe there is no right answer for everybody here. Some people can afford to self-insure and some can't. Even those who can, often get the warranties in order to avoid hassles and that dilema that comes with some small repair. "Do I fix it now or just live with it for a while until something else breaks?" If you have a warranty, that isn't a question. You just get it done.
