This is a discussion thread titled "Buyer BEWARE of Dealer Fumble!!!", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
I also bought my tundra at tarbox, Im going to watch them when they mount my plate, I still have the temp in the window but they should have my new plates in a week or so...
At first I thought this was another one of those nutty complaints. After seeing the pics, I think you have a valid complaint. Someone must have been smoking a fat one when they put that plate on. It's not even close!
Finally got a voicemail this morning from the dealer. He says he spoke to the "tech guys" and they are going to fill in the hole for me. It will look "brand new." I have to say....I'm NOT happy. The dealership is an hour away from my house, which means this is going to be a 5 hour deal. Additionally, the alarm is not working!! I have the LTD and did the test you all were talking about in a previous thread and of course....its not activated. So...in addition to not getting a new bumper, wasting 5 hours and gas on THEIR mistake and my alarm not activated....I AM PISSED!!! I had to vent here a bit before I called him back and said something I would regret. Any thoughts??? THANKS!!!
The alarm is no problem, they must have just forgot to activate it at the port.
The dealership can activate it for you in 2 minutes with their Techstream laptop.
Sucks about the bumper, but I suppose if you can't tell when their done....
I'd push for some sort of accessory for free...ya know, for your troubles and so you'll give good remarks on your survey...

I would be pissed too, that is unacceptable. They need to make it 100% have them do it or call your insurance company and they can go after the dealer. It was probably the salesman that did it. I hope that the tech that did the PDI would have done better.

i'd tell them to replace the bumper and to order and install the front plate bracket.its amazing the people they hire to prep and final inspect these trucks, especially a $40 k truck like a limited.i would've snapped if that happened to me,plus like everyone else said, get them to throw in some free stuff since they took up so much of your time and made you waste all that gas for their screw up.
Thanks for the ideas fellas. I dropper her off last night. The "expert tech" came out to take a look at it..."mmm, well, that's gonna be a tough one!" he says in front of me and the dealer. I ask him, "how close will you be able to get it to looking brand new?"...he says, 95-99%. Mmmmmm...ok. The dealer tells me it will be ready today, so I'm waiting for his call on my day off. We shall see! I'm definetly gonna ask for a license plate bracket and was thinking about trying a rear cargo compartment.......any thoughts??

I think you should ask for that an a few oil changes (how many depends on how bad it looks)...

Well...not good! Dealer called me late yesterday afternoon and proceeds to tell me that the "expert tech" cant fill the bumper and that they are going to have to have a "professional" body shop take care of it! WHAT??? Who the heck was the "expert tech?" An "expert" that was on a lunch break from Wendy's? OK...so now I'm fuming. Then he goes on to tell me that my Tundra Limited doesnt have an alarm which is why it doesnt work. I say.."hold on a sec"....I rush to my laptop and pull up the much debated TS thread on alarm activations and give him an earful. He was silent the whole time. He says, "I'll pass that information onto the service techs and have them take care of it." So...now it has been two days...Im driving around a powder blue Highlander (rent-a-car) and am dying to see my truck when they are done. I dont have high hopes on this one. Cant go with free oil changes as they are 65 miles one way from my house!! What to do???....ughhhh!!!
just go in the middle of their showroom and start raising your voice. I'll bet they will be more than glad to get you a new bumper and right out the front door pretty quick!
sometimes the squeeky wheel really needs the oil.

3 free services, not just oil changes (including your next major service) including them picking the vehicle up and returning it to you. And if the professional body shop can't do the work right, they had better be replacing the entire bumper.
I also hope a few things - first is that they are activating the alarm (test it before you leave that dealership). Second is that you are not paying for that rental.
And if all else fails and you don't get a desirable result, someone mentioned showing up in their showroom and starting to yell. Take it from someone who has worked in several dealerships. Those people typically get what they want very quickly. Not always, because some people are truly unreasonable, and those people are asked to leave (and if they don't, the police have been called). But if you're in the right, speak with the general manager (chances are he'll come running when you start yelling) and put your demands on the table...

Sorry but thats funny as hell. Looks like they told someone it was his last day working there. Yea I would have them replace the bumper or bumper skin if thats how they go together. Hope the same person does not repair the bumper. LOL

3 free services...maybe. So far, I am not real impressed and am not too confident they would do an honest job. The place is like a zoo!! They have 73 sales reps at the dealership! This past weekend they sold over 200 used cars! The size and operation they have going is overwhelming! From what I've learned, they are the 3rd largest volume in sales (Toyota only) in the country.
Yes...I'll make sure about the alarm activation! You can bet on that!
Nope..not paying for the rental as I saw they salesman present the purchase order to the rental rep. Although....I'm curious if they are going to try to stick me with the gas! I'm not budging on paying for the gas!! Oh...if you are wondering...the dealership is Boch Toyota...Massachusetts!
