This is a discussion thread titled "Buyer BEWARE of Dealer Fumble!!!", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
OK...I bought an 08 DC 5.7 4x4 LTD and got a GREAT deal!!! After a few hours at the dealer waiting for the truck to get preped for my ride home (1 hour), the dealer tells me its all set! I'm real excited now...I run out and jump in. Crank it up and zoom off into the dark. Now I had already inspected the truck in the daylight and it was perfect. OK, so now after I get home...get some sleep...I wake up the next day and decide to go outside to drewl over my new truck. As I'm looking at the front, I realize that my license plate is off center!!...mmmm....ok time for a closer inspection! WHAT!?!?! The dealer drilled two holes into my bumper?!? No...can't be!! Oh yes my friends...its true!! Take a look at the holes drilled compared to the two starter holes on the front guard below! Whoopsss!!!
So..I call the dealer and explain my discovery. He says..."Oh my...I am truly sorry about that. Let me talk to the parts department and get back to you tomorrow." So.....tomorrow should bring some news. I'm thinking they replace the whole front bumper! What do you guys think???
I don't have any experience with that per se but the valence on top of that on mine has a few dents in it. I know I didn't hit anything so when I was in to look at it a few of the other Tundras had it, not the Limiteds though.
They drilled holes in mine as well and I wasn't happy with it but there was honestly nothing I could do. Maybe if your state has to have a license plate then you could bring it up to them that it's off center and it will bug you every time you walk by the car. If not then it may be a little harder. I think they should replace the bumper though since you apparently didn't want the holes there..

That's brutal!! Completely unacceptable IMO! Why the hell would they drill the bumper!?!? Isn't there a place for the plate below the middle of the 3 openings below the bumper, that's were they put mine. Demand for a new bumper for sure.
I'm surprised they don't have a plate adapter fer the new Tundra yet. Come on...it's made right here in Texas! We're required to have front plates here, too! I'd probably make my own plate adapter if I had the new Tundra and mount it below the 3 holes...centered and level! I'm surprised they didn't stick it over the Toyota symbol on the grill...
Oh...fergot...I'd shoot fer a new bumper since you just bought the truck from them. Would it be any different if they screwed up the rims putting on new tires?

I agree..but they're also made in Indiana and they don't require front plates. I hate that I have to have a front plate on ours where there really isn't a "holder" for it.

That's what I was thinking. My dealer just screwed my plate into the holes that were provided. I was standing right there when they put the plates on. In fact he had to wait until I took the Viet Nam Vet plate bracket off my F150 so he could put it on over the plate..... That's strange.

Mine came with the front plate mounting bracket. Its made out of molded plactic and is screwed into the lower valence (the dark grey part, not the bumber).
