Pricing and DealersDiscussions that are specific to vehicle pricing, preferred dealer pricing, current incentives, rebates, and experiences.
This is a discussion thread titled "6.5' bed Crewmax - isn't happening", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
Its not coming guys. At least not in the forseeable future. The 2009 Spec Book is out and its not listed. I just got back from a truck business meeting where this was discussed and we were told in no uncertain terms that there are currently no plans to offer it. When pressed for why, it was explained that dealers had been surveyed and it was thought that with truck business already slow, it would not make a major impact to have this additional model. Those of us at the meeting were not happy about this and we expressed that, but that will not change anything.
Sorry for the bad news.

That's really too bad. I just don't understand a "pick up truck" with a bed less than 6.5 feet long, at least not for me. I really like an 8ft. bed but it gets a little hard to park, even with only a "double cab". I'll have to look harder at Ford, Chevy and Titans, I guess, since I'm thinking of going to a crew cab and need at least a 6.5ft. bed. I would love it if they changed their minds "quickly".
Trailers are fine, but I travel mostly with a single ATV. Along with trailers come another license plate to buy, at least two more tires to worry about, more insurance, storing the trailer when not in use, lower speed limits on many highways and higher tolls on many toll roads, not to mention handling issues in, say, snow and high wind conditions. Overall, not a good solution for me when the competition provides alternatives. I do hope they reconsider...
I agree, this is too bad. I would prefer to stick with Toyots butI need a Crew Cab and the longer bed and was hoping Toyota would come out through for 2009.
I think I am going to go with the Ford F250 Super Duty Crew FX4. You can now get these below invoice with the ford rebates and special pricing. Then if Tundra ever comes out with the longer bed, I would do the trade in.
Let me know if you hear otherwise about the longer bed for 2009 Tundras, I probably won't buy the Ford until August.
