Please respond if you ordered your vs. getting one off the lot or one found at another dealer. I've got a dealer telling me that Toyota won't let him order a truck (5.7 DC 4x4 Ltd with Nav, TRD, MO). Please post when you did this and where. Thanks.
My wife and I both ordered our Tundras. She ordered hers shortly after they were introduced last year and we waited about 6wks for delivery. I ordered mine earlier this year and waited just under a month. Dallas, TX area.
In both cases, we wanted plain 5.7L SR5 DoubleCabs with specific interior requests (mainly deletions) that weren't typically ordered by dealers.

I did what they refer to as "preference order". Colorado ordered March 07, delivered in May 07

I told the dealer what I wanted, they told me price and ended up trading to get it from another dealer. Didn't have to factory order. Came the way I wanted it, except I would have liked memory seats.

I ordered mine in Feb and will get it finally the first week in July! I have heard Toyota is not very good with special orders, and that it fairly accurate. I am not real happy with the whole process from Toyota, but will finally get what I wanted!
I ordered my truck to get the specific color and options. I placed the order on November 30th and picked up my truck at the dealership on January 30th. Other than wrangling over what they would give me for my trade in it was a fairly painless process.
The dealer ordered mine. This was back in Feb or Mar of 2007. Toyota of Escondido Fleet/Internet Sales. Super White RCSB with SAP. None in stock at that time. What Tundra are you looking for?
I ordered mine 4/28/08 and expecting to get it mid August. I don't have any details of the production date, etc but the August estimate is from an email I got yesterday.

I've got a guy at a dealer telling me Toyota doesn't allow orders.
I preferenced mine mid to late July of 07 picked it up the first week of September, not sure how much of a drive it would be for you but you might give SFTundraman a shout he has hooked up plenty of members out in your area and may be worth the drive.

Orders are easy. I ordered my personal truck (5.7 4WD DC SR5 with nav, OF, tow mirrors and a pile of accessories. It does take a while, although Toyota has gotten much better at taking the orders. The only problem we have right now is that as we get close to the end of the model year, they stop accepting any changes to the build schedual and we can't order the next model year yet. If you want something outside the planned build, you could end up waiting until August to place the order and a September to October delivery.

I ordered a 96 dodge ram club cab 4x4 Aqua 5.9 v8 back in Late May of 96. Received the truck in July 96. It came in exactly what I wanted except it didn't have limited slip like I specifically ordered. I traded the truck in May of 99 for a 2000 Tundra right off the dealer lot. I should have ordered that tundra as well because I really wanted the TRD package.
