This is a discussion thread titled "lease trade in questions.....", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
I have an 07 d cab on a 4 year lease. Ive had the truck a little over a year. Im considering trading it in for a non limited dcab or regular cab in the hopes of reducing my payment a little. Has anyone turned in a leased tundra yet and if so how big of a hit did you take? Any info you guys can give me is appreciated as this is my first leased vehicle. (P.S. I love this freakn truck 17,000 trouble free miles )
Unless you put a huge amount of cash down you're going to take a HUGE hit! I would just ride it out if I were you.

I was thinking about trading as well (I usually trade every six months)-but was quickly turned off when I was offered $17.5k for my 9k mile limited DC!
Yep...it's a bad time to try and trade a full-sized truck. Some dealers in this area have disclaimers on their ads stating that they no longer accept trade-ins of trucks/SUV's due to low demand.

ur gonna get screwed on the lease. if u lease u need to keep it till the lease is up or get smacked pretty hard. and youve had it a little over a year the miles of 17000 might be an issue, especially if u only have the 12k miles a year lease....hopefully u got the 15k a year and it will be ok....the one good thing about a lease i guess is when its up you can turn it back in and not have to worry about how much they will give u or not to get out of it....its less than 3 more years for you so i'd suggest to ride it out...
If you trade it at the dealer you leased it from for a purchase, they supposedly can break the lease for you without an early turn in penalty. I know of two people who have done this, but they had an in at the dealer. Like the other people said, trucks are no longer a hot item, but you might be able to decrease the hit. Good luck!
Most companies don't even have an early penalty anymore. I've broken two Honda Financial Services (Acura vehicles) leases by simply handling it as a trade-in vehicle. Plus the dealer gets the vehicle for less than your listed payoff due to tax ownership.
hi, i have been offered to take over a lease once. with 2years left. the leasee said he would pick up the 1st 3 months. i declined.
depending on many factor's you might be able to have someone sub lease it from you. you need i would guess permission from the dealership. your contract has all that info within.
you are going to have to pay.

Toyota's lease has no early termination penalty. You owe what you owe.On the lease on my 07 CrewMax the buy out is 31,800,right at retail. Trade is another story,my 3yr old Silverado trade in value was higher!

Gas wasn't almost $5.00 a gallon either. Demand for full size trucks is about nil.

Leasing has little to nothing to do with it......if you "buy" a vehicle with little or nothing down, you'll be in the same situation.

Again, trading it in it doesn't matter if it's a lease or a buy.....you would get docked the same for mileage. In other words, the penalty for milage on a lease is ONLY at the end of the term.

"Ride it out"
Somerimes that is the best way to go...............but being upside down this early has little to do with whether it was a lease or buy.
0 money down on a 60 month buy, he'd probably be just as bad and would have had higher payments.

Exactly!!!
Leasing is just a different way of financing. The mileage and condition stips only apply if you go full term......realize that your mileage and condition apply to vehicle value anytime you try to sell/trade......buy or lease.
Basically a ballon payment at the end that you may choose to pay.
However, on a trade in you obviously are paying it.
