Default Trade in values

Not surprised about gas prices, but I am a little surprised about the NADA value on my 07 I bought 02/07 for 31k on a 35k sticker. 23k trade in 27k retail. I going to ask my dealer what he give me, i bet it wont be close to 23k.OUCH
8k drop 14000 and a year and 4 months and 8k in purchase tradin. I wonder what i could really get for it in trade in???? Can hear it now

Anyone try to trade in theirs?

Good luck trading in any truck or suv in now. Mine is a lease so I won't be trading any time soon.

Mines a lease also. Also glad my other vehicle is a 2003 corolla which I could easily sell for a nice profit. Just curious to others thought and experiences as it doe not seem they have dropped the new truck prices to the extreme.

u probally could have gotten 19k for it if u took the aftermartket thigns off. trade in always suffers with aftermarket stuff. especially subwoofers, big rims and loud exhaust and intake. some bolt on appearance like runnign boards, step rails etc can be ok but ur best bet is to remove all that stuff before trading. its like selling a house with very owner specific paint colors and personalizations....neutral is much better, same on a truck, plain vanilla the way it came gets higher trade ins because it appeals to a much larger audience....

So your 19 and going from a 31K truck to a 60K after fees sedan with $4.00 plus gas and a huge surplus of unsold trucks in the market and your surprised they offered you market price for the truck?

Sell it private party if you want top dollar. Anytime you trade a car your gonna be bent over. Plus vehicles depreciate, this is basic econ.

I don't think the real point is whether or not kobaseball45 can get $19K for his one-year old $31K truck by removing his mods or whether he can get $21K by finding a private-sale buyer. It's the fact that new and used truck and SUV prices are in free-fall. GM is going to announce 0% interest for 72 months and up to $7K cash back on '08 models.

Just imagine what will happen when all those leased trucks and SUV's are returned to the manufacturers at the end of the lease as their owners pick up more fuel efficient vehicles. Those vehicles are going to flood the market and make the problem even worse.

agreed. i hear some dealers arent taking them on trades right now, its only going to get worse. im glad mine is a lease so i can turn it in and not worry about what they are going to do with the truck. 7k cash back is just the tip of the iceburg...i bet they are going to go farther than that soon even with that 0 percent financing....these gas prices are going to totally f up everythign arent they? even the used boat world is full of boats being sold because no one wants to feed a boat...i still will, ill sell my truck first and just drag it to the lake with my neon haha

Do you think Toyota would "haggle" the buyout value at the end of a lease term? My buyout is 24K at the end of my lease in April 2010. But, the truck will not be worth 24K on the market for sure. So rather than Toyota take it back and have to do something with it, wouldn't they ideally want people to purchase the truck so they don't have to worry about it? If they offered the truck to me for a really good price, I would consider purchasing it perhaps.

toyota bet get creative. and get going fast.
the sale's on the tundra are almost at a stand still.
it is almost misleading. look on the sticker.
it say's estimated gas usage per year. it's cost per gallon is like 2.80.
so if people don't look they say, well thats not to bad.
well double it. ouch! for many, not realizing that.

if you leased, turn it in. get out of it. at the end.
and rethink what type of truck you need, maybe a 4banger will do the trick.

Reading this thread is sure depressing but, then I think of why I got my tundra. I’m not quite sure why you guys got a Tundra in the first place but, I know I got mine because I needed to pull my toys and to haul things with confidence. To this date I don’t know of any vehicle that can do any of these things and get the mileage, performance and power the Tundra gives. If your able to down-grade to a 6 or 4 banger maybe the Tundra wasn’t a good fit after all. My problem with the tundra is putting too many miles on it getting closer and closer of running out my warrantee (21k to date).

I got my Tundra simply for the room inside. I've driven smallish vehicles all my life and got tired of sitting bow legged in the driver seat with my head hitting the ceiling. With 42.5" of legroom, the Tundra is the roomiest vehicle I've ever driven, with maybe the exception of a VW Jetta that I used to own.

I sat in the Tundra and couldn't believe the room inside. I've used it as a truck for the odd project around the house, but its all about space for me. At 6'2", I find it difficult to find vehicles that I fit in comfortably.

So, I'm not exactly thrilled at the prospect of getting back into a low to the ground, cramped interior little car.

My plan is to look at what trucks are offered in 2010 when my lease is done. I really miss stick shift so I may get into a Tacoma or something if they're still offered in stick. But I want a truck as long as it's feasible.

I totally agree with AIRSTREAMER's & seadragon's point. Regardless of what kind of new vehicle you bought and come to trade in, you as the owners are suffered. This is the fact, you as the buyer have to know this before you put your money on the table for the new vehicle. You got to understand that Dealers are there to make money.....not to peace the world........

If you are worry about gas to put in your baby than you should not getting the Tunda in the first place.....more specifically the TRUCK.

You guy have too much free time, don't know what to do.....to sitting here to talk down your truck, your BABY, GUY??? One thing I know for fact that if you guy keep talking down on your truck, then only people who laugh/love about it are DEAL....ERS. why you people want to do that????????????????
