This is a discussion thread titled "How to get money off sticker ! help please", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
My truck is coming in soon and need advice on how you guys are getting money of the sticker. I'm looking at this LTD crewmax loaded to the max 51,175 ever option you can name except nav it has the nice 20'' alcoa wheels and every thing. Or I can get the X-SP my purchase is this month so I need to go in soon for quotes the X-SP is 37,000. I really like the LTD and I would get it if I can get enough off sticker price to afford payments want to get as much off as possible. This thing has 11,000 dollars worth of options this will be my daliy driver so this truck should have the guys at work in complete shock. So could you guys please help The LTD is out fornt on the lot when you turn in so it might only be their for so long. I'm grateful for any advice that you guys give me will be willing to list options if you guys want !
Walk in there with a price in mind and wait for a call.
It'll work. Nothing is selling now. I know that because the Toyota dealership has more trucks on their lot then Chevy and just as many as the Ford dealership.

the economy is bad right now you really dont need the truck it could be 1 dolar and thats too much to pay for it. dont tell them what you will pay for it they may go less for it. just tell them whatever they want for it is too much they will come down on it. if they arent where you want the number to be at tell them its too much. this is when they tell you that thats the least they can give it to you for. then tell them something lower and if they dont want to get rid of it then more than likely they will call you later. oh and do it at the end of the month its more likely to happen. my truck that i traded in wouldnt shift out of first but i told them what they wanted was too much and i would just fix mine. they took 4,000 off sticker, and threw in some free stuff. works with houses too especially right now

you should be able to get the limited for no more than 46k easy but you need to be firm and not be sold on sales BS. Nothing is selling right now so the advantage is on your side. I say low ball even less than I mentioned by at least 3k and see what they come back with. You may be surprised if not just tell them I'll look elseware...Rarely will they let you leave the dealership with out some bargaining
Always remember the THE TRUCK MARKET IS DEAD. YOU HOLD THE POWER.
If it were me looking to buy, I'd start off with edmunds.com and try to determine what the dealers "invoice price" is supposed to be. Then I'd contact the internet sales department to the 3 closest dealers and request a quote. It wouldn't be a big suprise to see them knock off 10K from the $51K MSRP.
Price it out on edmunds, including all the options, etc. Offer them $500.00 over invoice. Don't forget to take off for the incentives. edmunds will give you all that info.
They will take $500 over......that's what I got mine for, and that was in December...

I work in the car business, and have spent my fair amount of time working in dealerships before moving to our corporate office. With the economy the way it is, the cost of gasoline the way it is, and the fact that there have been rebates on these trucks since very shortly after their introduction, getting money off sticker should be a breeze. Ask them to see an invoice and tell them you want to pay invoice less rebates. Today would've been the day to do that. If you can hold off until the end of next month, I would.
I'll tell you just how well these vehicles are selling (at least locally). I was conducting a physical inventory audit for the end of the quarter a few weeks ago. The spare storage lot of the specific dealership has the vehicles stored together by model (Tundras with Tundras, Corollas with Corollas). There were a handful of Corollas (and ZERO PRIUSES) in stock. Camry models were in limited supply. There were an abundance of Tundra and Sequoia models. Economics are in your favor.

2007 Tundra Double Cab Limited 4X4 4.7L (8350) Silver Sky (01D6) & Red Rock (LA21)
Loaded up with almost all Toyota had to offer, plus a few things they didn't offer...
Went to 4 dealers before I got a good deal. Only one really wanted a sale. I bet I could get a deal at all of them now. Knowing invoice before hand should help.
Thanks these are some good ways to go at it is it okay if I ask for 12 grand off sticker price then subtract how ever much the rebate is. Then ask them what they would give me for my trade in of an 06 4.7L double cab like new condtion SR5. 12 grand from the sticker is 39175 subtract the 4000 dollar rebate comes to a total of 35,175 my bank wll finiace the truck. I dont expect to much for trade in I don't feel like spending 800 for tires on the 06 with 28,xxx miles all ready pay for gas so I want to get this as it's nicer and has better features. A car is not an option can't stand a car to much with road trips I like to be in a nice size truck and plus a 6'3 son can't fit in a lot of them.
1. Is it possible for them to take off the Xm I don't need it that will save me 449 dollars ?
1) A dealership should show you invoice price. If they refuse, find another dealer because you don't want to deal with them. With the current state of our economy/truck sales/gas prices, the dealership will take invoice price for the truck (they still make money at this price). I paid 100 over invoice back in December.
2) You're worrying about making payments, so what will you do if gas prices go to $6+ for a gallon of gas? I hate to be a negative nancy, but that's a very serious consideration you should consider.
3) It sounds like you want to impress the guys you work with? Are you wanting to buy the more expensive truck for the right reason?

1. I'm not worrying about payments I just want them to be in affordable range and not be off the chain ! Gas is not an issues I make the money for the gas.
2. I'm not trying to impress the guys at work I was just saying they would be in shock as to how nice it is or how sharp the truck look. Reason not happy with the 06 just as far as features and capablitiy and comfort. I also perfer paying for some thing I really want I won't retire until 62 or 60 I'm 49 I want to get this truck while I'm still working and I don't plan to buy another truck after this !
I doubt there is $12k worth of mark up from the invoice on that truck. Simply ask to see the invoice and tell them you'll pay that minus the rebate. If that number is something you cannot afford, get the XSP and enjoy it.

You're right, there's not 12k worth of markup on that truck.
However, would you honestly pay sticker for a truck that nobody wants that when you drive it off the lot it'll be worth roughly HALF of what you JUST paid for it? I don't think I would. You gotta play to win or you won't go anywhere.
Oh, and in the newspaper they're giving just under (and I mean just under) 10 grand off on all new Tundras, including the limiteds.

Here in Baltimore dealers are willing to drop $9500 off MSRP. With $3000 cash back from toyota built in in that offer, I would probably offer $44500 to your dealer plus 0% financing, it is way better then getting it for $41500.
Another thing get it with NAV, it is a nice feature.
