Like many other dealers, we stock just enough cars and trucks to get thru about 8-10 weeks... and let Toyota keep their cars and trucks stashed at PORT or railyards, where we don't have to pay all the flooring on them. As the free for all and craziness this business rolled to and became the past few years in the US, the learning curve's been interesting. Toyota dropped production and has also changed their ways with not demanding units units units and also understanding dealership's needs to simply turn down allocated cars, even when they were 'earned'...
It's also kinda cool because it's brought a lot of us together to trade for vehicles we all need. I can get any truck or Sequoia or Venza or... whatever is needed with a few phone calls. Stocking one of everything is passe' now. It's not affordable.
If you're seeking a hard to find vehicle -- or even a not so hard to find vehicle - and want my always special TS pricing... or need a car or truck custom built, let me know. TS benefits in a small way, and so do you and I!

Hi, Dianne I am looking for a Tundra and a good deal considering the economy. I was almost ready to buy a 2009 Tundra from Pasadena but they were not at all ready to give ANY kind of deal.
When I hear the "economy" cited in a sentence about money, it sure is a head shaker. It's the excuse for lots of things lately. Let me tell you, poeple are still buying Toyotas. They might stay in a house or stick with the same clothes or shoes a tad longer, but they are buying cars here in CA. :: shrug ::
The phrase "in this economy" ... I think it's an excuse for some folks to expect unrealistic things. After all, no one said to me - when things were rocking and all of our stocks and bonds and investments were doubling and rocking high and houses were jumping in value 20-30-40% - no one ever said to me "why don't I just pay you more loads more for this car..." because the economy is so good...
Right now, anyone who can't find a deal "in this economy" is usually unrealistic about what a deal is. Is that you?
After all, what's happening to this country's economic base is in itself unreal. Certainly nothing any of us are used to witnessing.
Denny, I have no idea what model you want ... but I am known for giving great deals, and being a straight shooter.
If you need my help, call me.

Very well said. I made a similar statement a couple of months ago, but stated more to the fact that the people that can afford to purchase a new vehicle right now are not the ones needing the extra incentive to make a purchase. They are just trying to get something for nothing.

Yep!
I'm SO done with hearing that Sequoias and Tundras should be half price! LOL!
Anyway, no One's turning a large profit margin anymore that I know of. The awful thing for many stores is the way Toyota insisted and pushed each dealership to remodel, improve, rebuild... spend spend spend. Many stores with minimal to moderate overhead Those able to keep their dealerships tidy but not remodeled like a marble mausoleum) were pushed to spend millions on turning their showrooms and lots into showpieces and "glowrooms" and now, their overhead for doing this is huge. When sales drop, so is their ability to pay for these expenses.
Dealers and dealerships are not that different from us people.
Let's say I talk myself into my remodel of my house or office building... and took out a huge 2nd mortgage to do it. It's now improved and redone enough to be nice, but now I owe too much on it with a diminished return investment and smaller income, reducing my ability to pay for it.
At some point, I have to do what it takes to make a profit, and try and maximize each car deal. I know we're not taking big fat loser deals anymore. I don't know anyone who is. The demise of many dealerships like the Superior Group (Nissan, along with his Toyota store) and some of the smaller domestic stores will create a new reality for folks. The strong will survive, but the strong will revamp their business philosophies. It will become: make a fair profit so you're there to both service and care for the customer's cars, and also there to sell them their next one. Buyers will have to take an active part in this. Or, you're going to be driving 20-30 miles between dealerships for service, parts, and help. The rusted gutted hulks of the closed dealerships will become other things. Life will go on. We all will have to take a role in keeping each other in business. Think about the people you put out of business, and the displacement factor in many ways... it's a small pebble in a pond that ripples far and wide.

Almost $3,000 off MSRP before rebate looks like a good deal. I have a Tundra grade in stock with MSRP $30,039 and an invoice right at $28k. What more are you asking for?
