Angry Dealership Nightmare

I took my 2005 double cab tundra to dealership in Metairie LA to see what the difference wqould be for me to purchase the 2005 leased vehicle VS buying a new 2009 double cab. Long story but here is the short of it. While test driving 2009 tundra, the saleman had his service department check out my 2005 tundra. When we got back he sat me down and explained that I was over on my milage, I already knew that and I also had one more payment to make. He said his service department had the expertize in dealing with leased vehicles and the only thing I would owe is excessive milage and last payment. Befgore I left the dealership I ask the question. Am I finished with the 2005 tundra? The saleman said yes SIR you are done Lakeside will handle everything.
Then I get a invoice from lease company saying I owe excessive milage, excessive wear, and dispostion fee for a total of $6400.00. When I contacted dealer they say they will pay for all except 1100.00. Maybe I am ingnorent, but I am in the health care and when we say we are going to do something we stand by our word. I am still trying to negogiate this issue with my dealer but I must say this experience has left a bad task about toyota. Any one have any suggestions?????????????

Guess all you can do is to push the dealer to honor what they told you they'd do.

I wouldn't blame Toyota for this one. Sounds to me like the dealer is the one who put you in the squeeze.

Hope it all works out for you.

I'm wondering where the "nightmare" is?? The $1100 is the last payment plus the mileage charge. OP knew he owed that anyway.

The dealer is willing to pay the excessive mileage and the last payment. My nightmare is the saleman said his service department had the expertize with handling lease close out inspections and from what they found I would only have to pay for excessive milage and last payment. Then I get a bill for the excessive mileage, last payment and excessive wear. Totaling $6400 dollars. I was under the impression that the dealership I bought the new truck from had already done the assestment and they said all was good except the miliage and last payment which they said they would cover. Before I left with new truck, I was told by the dealer ship that I was done with the 2005, not to worry they would take care of everything.

So what I'm wondering, what is the total amount of your last payment, and your excessive milaege?? Your not actually telling us how much your on the hook for. You agreed to those 2 charges.. Lets get those, then subtract the $1100, and see whats left.

I have been sent a bill for 6400.00. The dealer has said they will take care of all but 1100.00. I think they should take care of the entire bill. If you read from the begging of this thread. It is a matter of principle

you seem to be having trouble answering people's question. seems you want some support, but you refuse to answer the question.

you stated "He said his service department had the expertize in dealing with leased vehicles and the only thing I would owe is excessive milage and last payment." so, you knew you would need to pay the mileage and the final pmt. he told you that. did you pay that before you left the dealership? then, you owe it.

why is this so hard?

Could it be that you misunderstood their comment of "we'll take care of it" as they will take the truck, and cover most of the issues, but the mileage and last payment are still part of your contract? They did mention that you were over mileage.....

No I am not confussed. The issue I have is that I was told that the truck was no longer my responsibility. I had to eat the excessive mileage and last payment in the new purchase adding to the cost. My point is pretty simple. If I give someone my word then I stand by it. If a dealership gives someone there word shouldn't they stand by it?

I'm with everyone else on this. If someone ask me if they are done with their vehicle after turning it in for a lease, I will say the same thing, as all the dealer does is send in the lease turn-in form and odometer statement to let the leasing company know where it is. Anything from that point on is between the leasing company, and the leasee.

If they stated you would owe for last payment and excessive mileage, then you still owe for that. You should be greatful that they are not saying "what do we owe you? you have a new truck, and turned yours in?" Instead, it sound like they are taking care of the excessive wear that normally you would be stuck with.
