Default Would you buy a new 08 model?

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and I have the Tundra "bug". About a month ago I went to the local dealership to drive a new Tacoma. After driving a few I decided to jump into a new Regular Cab Tundra for a test drive. Ever since I have been hooked. My local dealer has an 08 Sr5 regular cab with the 4.7L on the lot. MSRP is $26,430. They quoted me $20,500 out the door. There are no rebates anymore on the 08's so they are just giving me invoice minus "dealer cash." My only worry is that as soon as I drive it off the lot, I have a used 2 year old truck. I tend to keep my trucks for only a couple years because I am always wanting something different (Really bad habit). My other option is a used 07. It is an Sr5 as well, but it has the bucket seats, the 5.7L and better wheels. It has 15,700 miles, mint condition. The dealer wants $18,500 for this truck. What would any of you do? There are a couple regular cab 09 models within a hundred miles of me. Should I maybe wait and see if the rebates go up on them and see if the dealers are willing to give me a great deal to make room for the 10's? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

Is 18,500 bottom line or asking? Do you want a new truck or is used ok? I ended going with new as I plan on keeping it forever and I'll know its history. I got mine a few month ago, an 08 DC for less than they are quoting you as I got the rebate.
With the 07 , it should be certified so that will give you a longer warrenty but if you are not keeping it, does it matter?
I have the bench as it is nice to have the extra seat and I have used it. And the console is just too massive IMO.
I'd personally would go for the 08, as wheels are easy to get if you really want and it is new. And you might find yourself hanging onto it much longer

I see what you mean. I usually only buy new trucks because I like the peace of mind. I am only leaning towards the used one because it has the 5.7 in it, and I can't find any new regular cabs with the 5.7 that aren't decked out 4x4 Trd's with a 31,000 sticker. 18,800 is what the dealer is asking for the used one. I am assuming I can get it for 18,500 out the door. Do you think 20,500 is a good price for the 08 or should I be able to get it for less with the 10s already on the lot?

My dealer just got a shipment of 09's so I don't think they will be discounting them much. And my area doesn't have rebates either.
What options is on the one you are looking at? If it is 4.7 and a few other things, then it's not bad. If it is a v6 work truck delete, then I would move on

I finally got a chance to drive the 07 used Tundra with the 5.7. It is in MINT condition. 15,750 miles. Clean and tight. I am in the bargaining process as we speak. Hope to have it bought tomorrow. I will post pictures as soon as I get it.
