Questions about 2001 Tundra For Sale / 2001 in general
I am an MR2 owner and am thinking of picking up a 2001 Tundra. What do you think of this truck:
01 Tundra 4WD Limited Access Cab V8 Auto, 20" rims (hopefully stock ones are still available) leather, TRD, 60k miles, shell, flowmaster exhaust and JL subwoofer in the console. Cargo holder for the bed, XM satellite radio module, and a custom camera display on the rear view mirror (for when the shell is on + bed is full, you can see whats behind you). Maintenance wise nothing but pads and normal scheduled maintenance. $18,500 and it looks great, leather looks fine.
I was looking for a double-cab Tacoma but stumbled up on this truck from a private seller. I have some qualms, I am worried all the bugs may not be worked out by the second year of the Tundra... is there anything in particular I should look out for when checking this 01 out? Also what do you think of the price. Thanks.
Back in May I paid $22.5K for my 2001 Limited AC 4 X 4 with just over 23k miles on it. I had a lift, oversized 305.70.16 tires, weld wheels, and a fold a cover tonneau cover. I flew down from Alaska to pick it up in IN then drove it back up. $17K sound great if it is in great shape.
I paid $14,500 For my 2001 AC 4WD limited with a dent in the rear bumper and a couple blemishes in the body last march off ebay $900 to ship it to me. Would have cost me $25,000 for the same truck at the time.
Are you planning on towing? Reason I ask is some people who tow a lot with their 00-02 models have had transmission problems. It seems limited to those who tow in over drive too. If not I wouldn't worry about the truck. I have an 01 and it has been trouble free so far. I'm not sure about the price, but it does come with some nice aftermarket accessories.
