Default turned down offer I made

Made offer on 05 Sequoia Limited 4WD stickered at around 45,000. Had nothing except 6cd changer etc. . No nav, no dvd, no rear dvd. Color is black.
Has 550 miles on int (demo- never been titled). I figure this is essentially a used car- 06 will be coming in soon. I offered slightly below invoice with $750 cash back. They came back about 1000 over invoice. I walked out and will continue to look for car at invoice or less.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

I would have done the same.

When I was buying my Tundra, I negotiated a price on a used truck with a dealer and then when we went to do the contract, they added things like window etching, title, registration, "administration" etc etc. In NJ, even if you buy a car at a dealer, you still have to go to DMV to deal with all the paper work, and the window etcing, I told them I didn't ask for it, so I refused to pay for it.

Ultimatly, it got to the point where the sales guy picked up the contract and said " I don't need to sell you this truck" and he walked away. If it's wasn't his loss, it sure wasn't mine either.

There are litterally 10's of thousands of trucks to pick from. I the end, I bought a new truck for the same price with no pain in the *** haggling. I went through the internet and it worked out perfectly. Since then, I also bought a VW Toureg through the www.

Anyway, basically, my point is, there is no such thing as a good deal and you can ALWAYS get the same price of better somewhere else.

The real "best deal" on a car is to buy 1yr old from a private seller you know and keep the truck for 5+ years and always keep it maintained.

Good luck.

Every mile put on at the dealership is a hard mile. How many test drives have you been on when the sales guy said "step on it, feel the power" and etc... I'd pass on 550 of those type of miles.

Default Just bought a 06 Solara convertable.

Yep, finally located an 06 Solara convertable. They are hard to come by. Freehold Toyota was alloted only 3 convertables this month. Anyhow, Its hard to neogoate any kind of sale regarding Toyota vehicles. They are very popular & hold there value to the limit. So if you don't buy it the next guy will. In fact, you hardly see used Toyota trucks on the market, in some cases none at all. But if you want to buy a Ford or Chevy you'll find a whole barrel full of them. Lots & dealers have lots of them to sell you. By the way, they tried to sell me the glass identification but I turned it down. They wanted $350 for it & all I can ask is for what purpose? If anyone should pay for it - it should be your insurance company to help recover there loss. Not yours?
