This is a discussion thread titled "What price were you Quoted on 2007 Tundra?", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
If you got $1500 over retail blue book for your trade in, then you got way more than a $3000 discount. You should be arrested because that was a criminal act, lol
Nice Job
oops not retail blue book - I meant dealer trade in blue book - which was still $22000 for a truck I paid $26000 for two years prior (MSRP was $36000)
In Humbling Overhaul, Chrysler Faces Big Cuts
10,000 May Lose Jobs As Trucks, SUVs Slump;
"The other is the St. Louis North plant, where the regular Dodge Ram and heavy-duty version are made. The plant, which employs about 2,300 workers, didn't start its work this year until Feb. 5, due to slack demand, and employees have been told that there will be more down time this year, said Dan Corpuz, financial secretary treasurer of United Auto Workers Local 136, which represents workers at the plant. Chrysler recently laid off 200 people there.
"We don't have enough orders to keep the workers going," Mr. Corpuz said. "So people are nervous."
This is the sales environment that the Tundra is being launched into. I'm not sure how much premium pricing can be maintained in an environment where trucks will be priced to move at any cost. There are certainly some people who are looking for a full-sized truck AND are willing to pay more simply because it's a Toyota. Then what?
Don't mean to single you out , but here goes.
Toyota is the biggest investor in marketing studies and will NOT make gargantuan mistakes like the domestics. They won't ramp up full production until demand is there.
Domestics have way to much capacity, so of course they are going to close certain plants. They are also dealing w/unions bad management and for years, horrendous quality.
No way in 7734 Toyota didn't study this and this market throughly, certainly in some areas of the country demand will be slow. This spring demand will pick up this isn't a good time to be selling anything unless its oil or warm underwear. (for the NE-NW anyway)
Toyota knows people will buy reliability. Nevermind resale, which will get tested now with people wanting to move up from the older Tundras. They are smart and right now with not many choices on the lots price will be steep. I agree fully they will come off their collective high horses eventually and deals will be made. They knew that too.
So wait or don't complain. BTW, most of the newer trucks the initial quality is really good as for interiors or looks thats subjective. Initial quality isn't my concern it BEST be good. I want long term quality.
Toyota has always been the best at keeping the selling pace with the building pace. If they aren't buying they ain't building. I think alot of folks will be ordering the exact truck they want.
To put pricing into another perspective, i've looked into leasing a few and here's what i found. Nissan Titan SE Crew Cab 4X4= $540/ mnth with $1400 down; 2007 Chev 4X4 CC= $530/mnth with $2000 down; and 2007 Tundra acess cab 4X4 w/5.7L SR5= $499/mnth w/$0 down. So, even though the Tundra costed the most up front, it leases for the cheapest monthly payment, throw a grand or two down on the tundra and your in the low to mid $400 range which is about $100 less per month than the others. Right now a tacoma 4X4 double cab only leases for about $60/mnth less than the 5.7L Tundra does. Get a good deal from the dealer and that number gets even smaller! I guess these special leases are only until the end of Feb. they figure? They said they are trying to get alot of these out there in the first month.
well i had to write something. all i can say is just luck on who is your salesman, if he wants to make the most out of you. so you have to act like you can go to another dealer and walkout with your money. they dont care if you pay cash or finance cus either way they gonna get the money. so just try to get a little discount and couple of accesories. but if you get accesories then dont let them just tell you they gonna give it to ya. make them write on the "we owe" piece of paper they have and sign it. they offered me the under seat storage and seat covers and so far i got none, but i will go with the manager to see whats goin on. ok now for the price. mine the msrp was 35k and add 2k more for step sides and some other thing i dont remember, the total price was 37500 and i got it for 33k. that means i had them reduced the selling price and i saved almost 5k. maybe thats why they didnt want to give me the extras they promised they will. lol
now after you get to a price you like comes the difficult part. you gotta make sure on how they fill out the invoice. they gotta take the trade in before the y add taxes... careful on the finance guy. they are quick. so just pay attention and ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU WANT. i hope i help somebody. i have more things to say but my memory is f... up

Was this your price before or after the 4000 dollar rebate?
that price was before the 3500 rebate. after rebate was 29500.... now the rebate is 3500 for a 2007 or 2008 tundra.

I can get that same truck in my area for 26k ....(SR5 grade NO Navi)
Crewmax i can get 4wd for around 32k....(SR5 grade No Navi)
Thats what I told my local dealer that I saw adds for up to 10000 off MSRP. Ford is offering something like an 8 grand rebate off f-150s. I am only buying when the price gets really cheap.
