This is a discussion thread titled "What price were you Quoted on 2007 Tundra?", within the Pricing and Dealers forum, part of the Marketplace Forums category.
I went to a local Toyota dealership whose sales manager is a personal friend of the family. He said, "just pick out any new Tundra and I could purchase it at the "Family and close friends" price. Said, "Don't worry about any add-on's or any adjustments. I could have it at MSRP". . NO!
Perhaps he meant that he would sell you one of the trucks that haven't been driven around for the past week burning rubber.
The Costco buying program referred me to a dealership over an hour away. By email, I was quoted $500 below MSRP on a truck that had about $1K of non-factory add-ons like mud flaps, door enhancements, and a spare tire lock.

If I had someone say that to me, they wouldn't be my friend any longer Heck, anyone can buy at MSRP--Well, actually, not me because I would never pay MSRP.
Nice friend, seeing how they pay about $10,000 under invoice for these vehicles. If I couldn't buy at invoice, I'd hold off. The prices will come down later this year, especially if they want to sell 200,000 units. Toyota deals like you can't imagine at the end of the year. Also consider dealing on the last day of the month, or last day of the quarter when goals must be met.

I went to a local dealer at lunch today and drove a Limited 2X DC. When asked, the sales guy told me they would be selling at MSRP for a long time beacuse they are new to the market. We'll see.
What we really should do is start a thread where people report how many '07 Tundras they see on dealer lots. Because dealers exchange vehicles so much, this would be a good indicator of exactly when they will start to deal below MSRP.
The full size truck market is EXTREMELY competetive. Tundra discounts are coming soon. Let the "must haves" pay MSRP or above for the next 2-4 months, then dive in for a nice discount from MSRP. I personally love the truck, but I would not consider purchasing one until I can buy it at MSRP "out-the-door" with tax, lic, and doc. fee included. Roughly add 10% to the negotiated selling price to come up with your "out-the-door" bottom line price.

Or better yet, offer $1000 off the sticker as your "out the door price." Come in with a cashiers check, and walk out with a new 07 Tundra.
Always remember the dealers are paying roughly $10,000 under sticker for these vehicles. The dealers don't absorb R/D like parent Toyota does.
Just make sure it's the last day of the month, when goals need to be met.
Let me get this straight. So you are saying a there is $10,000 mark up in a 2007 Tundra? You are out of your mind and hopefully nobody takes your advice as they will be laughed out of a dealer showroom. Go visit the Ford/GM/Dodge guy if you want that type of discount.

One of the dealers out here in Southern California said I could pick from any of the in stock 07 Tundras and get it for only $1000 over invoice. However IF I pull the trigger on one, I'm waiting until they offer them at invoice... at least. You can PM me for the dealer name if you like.
I just bought mine on Thursday and I am pretty happy with the deal. I had a ultra nice trade so that made the pill a lot easier to swallow. In my area these trucks are selling VERY quickly with folks even following the haulers as they bring them in.

Out the door price (tax, license, registration...) will vary widely, depending on local taxes, etc. I would only negotiate cash price of the vehicle, while calculating what I will have to pay in tax/license/etc.

I might have got bad info from someone but it makes a little bit of sense to me when I think about it. I was told that it is always good to pretend you are going to finance threw the dealer you are buying from for the longest amount of time. I herd that this way the dealer will come way down on the price of the car or truck because he or she knows they are going to make plenty of money in interest. Then when you get the price down on the car or truck you tell them you decided to pay cash at the last minute or you can just go threw your own bank for a loan. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Does is make any sense at all?? Thanks In Advance, Johnnnny
