Exclamation Prius Navigation System

I purchased my Prius in July 2006. During a recent cross country trip I experienced difficulties with my Navigation System. While on an interstate highway in the split screen mode (map/data) the data screen froze while the map view tracked correctly. I had to re-cycle the system several times to get the screen to provide correct data. In addition while on another interstate the data screen was off by as much as 3 miles (exit 189 reported as 186). The dealer checked the system and found the hardware working properly however, they have no way to check the software. I suspect my software is defective or has been corrupted. Has anyone had similar problems? If so has Toyota supported the software quality/reliability?

Call Toyota Headquarters and complain. Get a case number.

They have Upgraded MapDVD/ Firmware on certain Nav equipped models. Only if the Software exists and applies to your specific equipment.
TSB through warranty. Call and verify this.

The voice is not to be trusted. This system lies at times. For instance, last week it wanted to send me from southern NH to NYC to find a Kinko's. I just bought an update DVD to correct the problem and now cannot find any instructions on how to go about replacing the DVD!

The system DVD for the NAV is under the seat.

These days, when I wish to find out how to do things, or want more info, I use Google.

Google "how to replace a prius navigation system dvd" and I bet you'll be surprised at how much info is available to you.
