Default Good Day Everyone My Name Is Robert From Fort Mohave AZ.

I purchased a 2008 Silver Pine Mica Prius Touring On Dec. 1st.
So far we love the 45+MPG compared to 24 mpg on our Saturn Vue SUV.
BUT we do have some issues I want to share with all of you.

First, if you plan on buying a 2008 anytime soon, DON'T Expect the Auto Door Lock Feature to work. Toyota Customer Care says; "although listed in the owners manual, auto door lock is NOT a functioning feature!"
Apparantly it was SUPPOSED to be included but for some reason was NOT!

Second, D.R.L. and Automatic Headlights are NOT Available on the US Prius!

Third, My Navigation System DOES NOT Recognize our home street address?
Toyota Customer Care is STILL working on solving that one, BUT when they contacted the Nav. System Manufacturer, they were told I have to wait for the next update and MAYBE My Street Address will now be included!
Our subdivison is 15 years old, and the streets were mapped and plaated at the subdivison inception. County and Phone Book Maps SHOW OUR STREET!
This is a 2008 and it DOES NOT HAVE THE LATEST STREET INFO.

When my wife went to Office Depot she input our street address in both the Tom Tom and Magellon Nav. Systems and got turn by turn to our home?
So, if you plan to get one with Nav. you may want to input your address and make sure that it works BEFORE You Pay The Dealer For Your Car!

So, the old adage of "buyer be aware" is definately in place for this car!

Don't get me wrong, we STILL Are Very Glad We Bought This Car BUT just wish Toyota would have resolved these "shortcoming issues" beforehand!

Unhappy Update On Prius Navigations System Problems From Toyota Customer Care?, Not Really!

UPDATE AS OF 2/05/2008 FROM TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE? NO, NOT REALLY!
A supervisor just contacted me today, and had the audacity to tell me "while it is unfortunate you are experiencing difficulties with your Factory Navigation System, (yeah like it doesn't know my home street address, so it can't give me turn by turn directions anywhere) Toyota WILL NOT Make Update Discs available to you FREE. Update discs are 'customer pay' items".
Well Know, So What Do You All Think of That, So much for Toyota Quality & Customer Care?
It is obvious to me that the money I paid for this Navigation System, WAS A COMPLETE WASTE, AS TOYOTA HAS NO INTENTION OF GIVING ME EVEN ONE LOUSY UPDATE DISC!
So if you are gonna get a Prius DON'T BOTHER GETTING THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM!
It is interesting to also note that while my wife was at Office Depot, she input our home street address into both a Tom Tom, and a Magellon Nav. System and both accepted the address and gave her turn by turn navigation to our home, with no problem at all.
Do yourselves a favor and Save Money, BUY THE AFTERMARKET NAVIGATION SYSTEMS!
I genuinely feel "just so violated" of being ripped off by Toyota!
So, as they say, and it surely rings true in this instance with Toyota, "BUYER BEWARE"

Default Re: Good Day Everyone My Name Is Robert From Fort Mohave AZ.

I know this post is old, But I can relate to your problem.

On my nav ( I live in NYC) when inputing my address it doesn't come up also. If I input the street first, which does come up then it shows the range of addresses incorrectly. It is a data error. Because the cross streets ARE correct.

The work around is to MARK your location at HOME , then the Nav assigns the Latitude and Longitude to your home location.. Save it and use this marked location to return home from wherever yu are. It can be saved and always will be there. It works, trust me. A Toyota Rep showed me this.

Also whenever yu input an address in general that doesn't come up. ,go back and first input city, then street, then address, in this order. Most of the time yu will finally get the address. Try it.

On another note regarding the Auto lock and DRL options...TMS is wrong and unfair regarding this. I had a similar issue . My rear seat entertainment was to display on the front Nav when the car is in park and the P brake is ON> it doesn't work at all.

Befor I purchased the HL I downloaded a copy of the Owners manual to compare and learn about the features I wanted. Including this Nav and Rear Seat ent. The manual states Nav with rears eat ent. work in this way. Yet when I picked up the HL it didn't work. The dealer said it needed to propgrammed. The dealer tried everthing , then got TMS involved and TMS said "sorry" what's in the manual no longer applies.

TMS strikes again. There is a pattern with TMS. They really don't care.

question: did your Option list shown Auto lock feature as a listed option?
If so, then yu really have recourse.

DRL's are a requirement in Canada with the Prius and all vehicles.

Maybe it can be programmed. Since the Prius is built in Canada I believe.
How can one have a Loaded Prius without DRL's????
