Default Re: import prius to Canada

If you plan on purchasing a prius in the states plan on purchasing a used vehicle. Canada no longer allows Canadians to import new vehicles into Canada that originate in the U.S. Also, check with U.S. and Canada Customs to see what the procedures are for importing into Canada and exporting from the U.S.

Equally important, I believe that if you purchase a vehicle in the U.S. and need to get it serviced in Canada, the dealerships in Canada will not service it because it is a U.S. vehicle. You might want to call your local dealership and ask to see if this is true though. I hope that this helps.

Some of the Toyota dealers here are now selling US used Toyota vehicles off there own lots . So I would hope they would service them as well . I was also told if you buy the extended warranty here in Canada You would not have issues . I have found a dealer that will sell me two "new" Prius with 90,day plates so they would be classed as used . other then that they just need . a recall clearance letter from Toyota and day time running lights
