Default What does Green truly mean?

Is this what it truly means to own any Hybrid?

The Recorder

There's much more where this came from.

What a Hybrid scam!

Although many claim they will buy HY's to "do the right thing" and be politically GREEN and it is fashionable perhaps, or is it?
Being fashionably ignorant perhaps.

Truth is they buy them to save fuel. Not all will admit this. Who's kidding who?
If I can't afford to feed my growing family because of late I am spending 30% of my usable income on gasoline that's $3.40/gal going up to $4.00/gal soon, do I really care about the ozone. I think feeding my family comes first. And, the Gov't fooled us thinking Hybrid will save us. What BS.

With fuel prices today...Who really cares about ozone. The gov't doesn't care about fuel prices or CO2 emissions.
So to pay a premium on a car that will supposedly do what the gov't won't do is a joke.
The Gov't won't solve the Fuel price issues that They Caused and they could care less about the Ozone. They spin the subject around and around, because it sounds like a benevolent issue.

MPG estimates were 30% off admits the Feds!! But it sure hyped up these hybrids. Great for Toyota a few years ago. Toyota being a Major Hybrid Lobbyist for special interests. It's own interests!

Check out the more realistic MPG ratings on the Hybrid 08's now. These Hybrids don't look too attractive , do they?
Now the dealers have tons of them in stock desperate to negotiate and blow out the door.

They are NOT truly GREEN. and, They are NOT great alternatives to other Non hybrid economy cars out there.
The Important Data is starting to trickle in on these hybrids, the Hype is over.
I am not down playing any Hybrid owner. To own one is a personal call. Maybe one just likes the way a Prius looks?

I merely say that the Gov't and Toyota have fooled the majority of hybrid owners.
These Hybrids are throw away vehicles at around 100K miles.

What a snow job. Like selling ice to the Eskimos. Toyota was slick. And the Gov't offered tax incentives to offset the extreme hight price of these Hybrids. Where is the Tax incentive now?

"Green" means transferring the "Green" from your wallet to the government for their "well proven" and "new and improved" programs....nothing more nothing less. Those programs will involve putting no money back into "improving the environment" that they are supposedly trying to save.

Wow, tell us how you really feel.

I love my camry hybrid for what it is. It gets me better mileage that a comparibly powered car. I don't compare my car's mileage to the 4cyl camry because it is a dog. WHile I won't win any speed contest with the hybrid version it is better than the 4cyl. And it gets much better mileage than the v6 version. cost wise, the hybrid is about the same cost as a v6 version. so, no it is not a snow job. The HSD really can improve the fuel economy.

Did I buy it to save the earth, no way. Did I buy it to save gas, yes.

And you claim these ybrids are throw away cars at 100,000 miles. Do you have any data to support your theory. I plan to drive mine to about 250,000 miles. I am at 80,000 now in a little over 2 years. I figure I have about 4 more years to get out of my throw away vehicle.

On a side note, my tundra is in the shop getting a new front axle. Right now I have a Prius loaner car. If my choice is a prius or a truck, I will choose the truck. if my choice is a prius or a corolla, I will pick the corolla. If my choice is a prius or walk, I will walk. I don't like how the prius drives, looks, or the image it represents. But it does get much better mileage than even my camry hybrid (I get 38 MPG in the Camry, my wife has been getting 50+ MPG in the Prius with a commute that she usually get 35 MPG in the Camry). There is no way a small car can touch the fuel efficiency of hybrids in almost all driving conditions.

Now we have a Prius that we bought for the wife back in June, did we buy it to go green. No way, we traded her Chevy Trailblazer in on it as it was only getting 16mpg and she was driving 90 miles a day roundtrip to work and back. I actually like driving it myself when she has to fly out for a couple weeks on business for the bank. Sure saves on gas when I can keep the Tundra parked in the garage. When she is driving it and averaging 48 mpg it sure makes it easier to drive the Tundra more when you combine the 12.5 mpg I get with the 48 mpg the Prius gets. Plus with her workplace now being at most 12 miles roundtrip it makes the gas savings even better, and the enviroment still benefits with it being a Hybrid.
